The Metroid series hasn’t resonated well with fans in recent years with titles like Other M and Federation Force. However, it seems Nintendo is looking to bring the franchise back to its glory days with the success of Samus Returns on the Nintendo 3DS and the massive anticipation for the upcoming Metroid Prime 4. But Nintendo may not be stopping there. NeoGAF user mocolostrocolos claims Nintendo is working on another 2D Metroid title.
For those unfamiliar, mocolostrocolos posted months before
Samus Returns was announced that a new Metroid game had been in the works for a long time. At the time, he couldn’t give many details, but did say the game was not being developed internally. Multiple comments on the account also show that he had been hinting at a Metroid II remake the entire time.
Now the same user is claiming a brand new 2D
Metroid title has begun development. However, he doesn’t want to give too many details again to protect his source. There are also no details as to which system it will appear on, or when we’ll even hear about it from Nintendo. For now, all we can do is speculate.
Do you guys believe Nintendo is working on an unannounced
Metroid game? If so, what would you like to see from a new 2D title? Let us know in the comments below!
