Mother fans have long been begging Nintendo to release the third game in the West, and now that EarthBound and EarthBound Beginnings have been released on Wii U Virtual Console, it seems more possible than ever. In fact, if the rumor mill is to be believed, it’s already happening. Emily Rogers, an insider known for leaking Nintendo news on occasion, reportedly tweeted out “Don’t be surprised if Nintendo celebrates a game’s 10th anniversary this year,” but that tweet has since been deleted, so we can’t confirm its existence. She did, however, tweet out a picture of Mother 3 character Kumatora along with a smiley face and “#2016” as a tag.
Following this, Liam Robertson (another industry insider who often works with Unseen64) tweeted out that since Emily “let the cat out of the bag,” he might as well join in. According to what Robertson has heard,
Mother 3 was in the final stages of localization at Nintendo of Europe “a little while back.” No word was given regarding North America, but if Rogers and Robertson are on the right track, we’ll likely find out more soon. Mother 3 originally launched on April 20th, 2006, so we’re just two months away from the tenth anniversary. Could a big announcement be on the way? We’ll keep a look out for official word from Nintendo.
Emily sure likes to play around lol. My tweet wasn't nearly this explicit and I got told off for it! https://t.co/0MhYRcmvmF

What I had heard about Mother 3 ( rumour) was that it was in the final stages of localisation at Nintendo of Europe a little while back.
