Over the past few weeks we’ve seen an avalanche of Pokémon rumors from a variety of sources, and they all indicate that first Pokémon adventure on Switch will be a return to Kanto. The alleged Pokémon Let’s Go! Pikachu and Eevee games (which now have registered domains) are said to be a revisiting of the first generation of games, and if the latest rumor to surface is true, Game Freak is really committing to that theme.
Today’s Pokémon gossip originally surfaced on 4chan (yeah, I know), but there’s reason to put some stock in it. The details were posted by the “Real Leaks” account, which is relevant because it was the first source to reveal many of the details about Pokémon Let’s Go! Pikachu and Eevee that are now corroborated by multiple sources.
Way back on April 1st, Real Leaks made a post labeled “Let’s Go” that claimed the next Pokémon game would be a pair of Yellow remakes, Pikachu and Eevee versions. Real Leaks also claimed at the time that the games would feature Pokémon that follow you, that Red and Blue will play a role in the story (but not as the playable characters), and that the games would borrow some elements from Pokémon GO.
Many of these details have now been corroborated by numerous established media outlets, so perhaps Real Leaks lives up to the name after all. With that in mind, the leaker is now claiming that the Let’s Go! games will only contain Kanto Pokémon, the original 151 monsters introduced to the world nearly two decades ago.
If this turns out to be true, it would be a huge decision by Game Freak, akin to the move to include only new Pokémon in Black and White. Of course, the Switch games could also take a page out of Pokémon GO‘s book by adding new Pokémon to the adventure over time.
