Back in 2017, we heard rumors that Constantin Film was planning to reboot the Resident Evil film franchise. Little materialized from this project until a year later when we reported that Constantin was shifting gears and planning a Resident Evil TV show instead. It’s been nearly a year since that report, but now we finally have another update, courtesy of Deadline.

According to their exclusive scoop, Constantin now intends to bring their planned Resident Evil show to Netflix. It’s expected to follow the basic premise of the games while expanding the universe and deepening its mythology. The Umbrella Corporation (and the chaos they cause) will be a major focus, and it is said to feature “action sequences and Easter eggs.”

Constantin has reportedly chosen Johannes Roberts to write and direct the series. The project is apparently still in the early planning stages, so don’t expect an official reveal any time soon. That said, the hype surrounding the Resident Evil 2 remake is certainly motivation for Capcom to get this rebooted TV series rolling!
