In his recent column for Famitsu, Masahiro Sakurai gave advice to game developers that was passed down to him from Satoru Iwata, saying that all developers should have a clear picture of what they want their finished game to be before they even start a project plan. He then revealed the last email that he received from Iwata before he passed. Iwata said to Sakurai that being able to picture the final idea of his games was a “very special thing.” He added that this made Sakurai a “rarity among even the entire games industry.”

Here’s the excerpt Sakurai provided from the email:

“Sakurai-san, your ability to make the final image of what you want in your head ‘move’ is a very special thing you have. Actually, in this respect, you’re a rarity among even the entire games industry” — Satoru Iwata
