A fan translation from Source Gaming has revealed some lost information from one of Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai’s books. During the development of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Sakurai had planned to split development between the main game and its Adventure Mode, The Subspace Emissary. Sakurai’s concern was that he needed to focus on the game’s characters, because if he didn’t spend enough time on each of them then they “wouldn’t receive the love [that they need].” No suitable outside studio was found to develop The Subspace Emissary, however, and almost all the game’s elements ended up being created in-house.

Hi, I'm Alex. I'm a lifelong Nintendo fan and PC gamer. A few of my all-time favourite video games include The Legend of Zeldas: Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask, Mass Effect 2, Rayman 2, and most importantly, Xenoblade. If I ever catch you making a "really feeling it" joke in our comments, you can bet your ass I'll hide it, you casual scum. Feel free to send me a private message if you have something you'd like to discuss... or if you just want to say hi!
