Two years ago, Shenmue III was announced at the PlayStation press conference at E3 2015, and the highly anticipated title was quickly funded on Kickstarter shortly after. If you were hoping to hear more about it in a few weeks at E3 2017, however, you’re going to be out of luck, as developer Ys Net has announced in an update that they will not have new information to show at the convention this time.

Development for the Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4 title is continuing smoothly, as seen in a new video released alongside this statement. It features a new character, an unnamed buff man in long suspenders. Ys Net continues to update their backers and the public via Kickstarter, so with no E3 announcements upcoming, that will be the main place to look for news about Shenmue III in the future.

With nothing significant enough to show at this year’s E3, do you expect Shenmue III to make its targeted December 2017 release date? Or is this only a sign of the developers working hard to get the project out? Let us know if you’re excited or skeptical in the comments!

Hey all! I've been a gamer since I was three. I'm one of those people with gaming so ingrained in them that watching my father play Super Mario 64 is actually my first memory I can recall. I love writing too! I'm writing an original fantasy series that takes place in another universe; it may take some inspiration from some of my favorite franchises. I've been a journalist for a few years, have worked on local and national teams, and have garnered experience assigning stories, editing, writing, interviewing, hosting a television series, running a YouTube channel, and doing other stuff that's more fun to mention in conversation. Bios can drag on. Anyway, I'm super stoked to be a part of the Gamnesia team! Thanks for having me!
