More than just PC players and Switch owners can now get their Shovel Knight fix this month! For owners of the original Shovel Knight on platforms other than the Nintendo Switch, the latest free DLC story expansion: Specter of Torment, in which players can finally control the scythe-wielding Specter Knight, is coming out soon.

North American Wii U owners can pick up the expansion as of today, April 21st! 3DS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PS Vita owners do not have long to wait either, as Specter of Torment drops on those platforms on April 25th. Specter of Torment has a “To Be Determined” release date still in April for both Xbox One and Fire TV.

Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment is the second in developer Yacht Club Games’ three-part story enhancement of the original Shovel Knight title. The first new episode, titled Plague of Shadows, featured brand new gameplay in familiar levels with Plague Knight as the new playable character. Specter of Torment mixes up the formula again for a faster, more flow-based approach to 2D platforming. There are also new levels, bosses and story developments to experience in Specter of Torment.

Will you be picking up Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment for free if you’re a current Shovel Knight owner on these platforms? Or do you plan to go all out for the Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove collection that features all three playable campaigns for Shovel Knight so far? Let us know in the comments below!

Hey all! I've been a gamer since I was three. I'm one of those people with gaming so ingrained in them that watching my father play Super Mario 64 is actually my first memory I can recall. I love writing too! I'm writing an original fantasy series that takes place in another universe; it may take some inspiration from some of my favorite franchises. I've been a journalist for a few years, have worked on local and national teams, and have garnered experience assigning stories, editing, writing, interviewing, hosting a television series, running a YouTube channel, and doing other stuff that's more fun to mention in conversation. Bios can drag on. Anyway, I'm super stoked to be a part of the Gamnesia team! Thanks for having me!
