A little over a year after its implementation into the game, the online Regular Tourney mode for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is set to shut down on September 30th. This mode is hosted by Nintendo and plays similarly to the bracket tournament modes in previous titles, with several different tourneys running their own unique sets of rules.

Once September ends, the menu space Regular Tourney has occupied will be left blank, though the community-led Normal Tourney mode will still be running past the end date.
Nintendo has formally apologized for any inconvenience this may cause.

Did you enjoy playing through Regular Tourney mode during its run? What are your thoughts on this announcement? Sound off in the comments below!
