Super Smash Bros. Ultimate got off to a hot start in Japan with
over 1.2 million sales at launch, and that momentum has stayed strong ever since. Typically Media Create publishes sales data every week, but they took one week off during the holiday season before coming back with a double-length report today. According to the latest data, Smash has gone on to sell well over half a million copies just since Christmas Eve.

Typically you start to see sales decline after the lucrative Christmas season, and that decline is sharpened by the turn of the new year. Despite these historical trends, Smash sold another 275,417 during December’s last week and an additional 258, 974 in the first week of January. Super Mario Party, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Pok√©mon: Let’s Go also put up strong numbers over the past two weeks, keeping Switch sales strong. Nintendo’s hybrid console sold 174,770 units during the final week of December and an increased 199,982 in the first week of January.
