The YouTube channel Smashified has published a video that shows us what Drifter, the main character from Hyper Light Drifter, would look like as a Super Smash Bros. character.

Hyper Light Drifter is a 2D action game by indie developer Heart Machine, based on classic 16-bit titles like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. It launched on PC in March 2016 and came out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later in the year.

You can watch the video above! If you would prefer to watch the time lapse without any commentary, you can do so here.

The model in the video was a collaboration between Omni Jacala (the creator of Smashified), Chris Szczesiul, and Andrew Coleman. The original Hyper Light Drifter consisted entirely of retro-style 16-bit graphics, so this model required a complete reimagining of the game’s visual design.

What do you guys think? Have you played Hyper Light Drifter, and do you like this depiction of the main character? Would Drifter be a good fighter in the Smash series? Let us know in the comments below!
