In the past, we’ve seen gamers take on the amazing challenge of using special controllers like Rock Band guitars and dance pads from Dance Dance Revolution to play games that don’t require them, such as the Dark Souls series. Now one man has taken this challenge to a new level by using a fishing rod controller in a Super Smash Bros. tournament.

The video above shows a clip from a recent competition, with two players fighting it out as Pikachu. When they go on to the next match, one of the players, Reddit user LAS_Wookiee, puts down his Nintendo 64 controller to bring out a fishing rod, showing it off for everyone to see. He picks Kirby for the next round and proceeds to perform amazingly well, taunting the other player by reeling in his fishing rod.

You can check out clips from this very unique tournament in the video above!

Writing is half of my life. Video games make up the other half. I decided to put these two hobbies together and join Gamnesia back in 2015. I spend most of my time working at a retail store and paying off my student debt. When I'm not getting stressed about the thousands of dollars I owe my loan providers, I play tons of video games (which just puts me into more debt). I'm also currently writing a novel in what little spare time I have. It's a story I've been wanting to write for a while, but I don't want to talk about it until I have most of it completed. Any Gamnesia-related inquiries may be sent to [email protected] Feel free to follow my personal Twitter if you want (@Pindlo). I mostly just retweet things.
