It looks like Sony is preparing its answer to the Microsoft’s Xbox One Elite Controller; NeoGAF user Kyoufu discovered that the company had made a patent for a new DualShock 4 controller featuring an updated directional pad, customizable settings, and two new buttons on the grip similar to the paddles on the Elite Controller and the Steam Controller.

In addition, the Start and Share buttons appear to have been moved below the directional pad and the primary buttons respectively, potentially making room for a bigger touch-pad in the middle.

Finally, one of the images appears to show the directional pad and face buttons switching places with the left and right analog sticks, respectively. This kind of design is not unlike the Wii U Pro Controller, which features both analog sticks above the button inputs.
