In recent years, Nintendo has found massive success with a pair of plug-and-play retro consoles known as the NES Classic and SNES Classic. These popular stocking stuffers have been consistently sold out, easily moving millions of units in no time. Sony noticed. Not to be outdone, they’ve just unveiled the PlayStation Classic.
Sony’s take on the retro mini console genre comes pre-loaded with 20 classic games, including fan favorites like Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms. It’s designed to look and feel like the original thing, and it includes two controllers for local multiplayer fun and an HDMI cable to connect to your TV.
The PlayStation Classic hits stores with a price tag of $99.99 USD / $129.99 CAN / €99.99 on December 3, 2018. That just so happens to be the 24th anniversary of the original PlayStation’s debut. While you wait to take one home for yourself, you can check out the announcement trailer above!
