Splatoon 2 is Getting a Month of TMNT Splatfests

0

Splatoon has quickly become one of Nintendo’s top franchises since its debut on Wii U, and Nintendo likes to keep the inky shooter fresh with regular Splatfest tournaments. The next Splatfest has just been revealed, and it marks the beginning of a collaboration between Nintendo and Nickelodeon. Over the course of the next month, Nintendo fans will battle it out to determine who’s the best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle as a promotion for the new show, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The first-ever tournament style Splatfest will be split into three weeks. In the first Splatfest of May, fans will vote for Raph or Leo. Voting kicks off on April 27th (votes are cast at the in-game Inkopolis Square) and the turf wars will take place on May 4th and 5th. One week later, on the 11th and 12th, Mikey and Donnie fans will battle it out. The winners of these two matches will face off in the finals on May 18th and 19th to determine the ultimate winner.

Each round lasts from 9:00 PM Pacific / midnight Eastern on the first day and lasts for 24 hours. During these Splatfests, players will be able to acquire new cosmetic items, like shirts and shoes. The winners of each Splatfest will also earn Super Sea Snails, which can be used to buy and upgrade gear.
