Splatoon’s producer, Hisashi Nogami, recently sat down with Nintendo Dream about Nintendo’s hit new IP, revealing a number of details about the game. One of these was the history of the IP’s name. At one point, the developers had considered naming it “Ikasukiz”, which is a rather fitting combination of Japanese words: “Ika” translates to “squid”, “Ikasu” to “being stylish”, “kiz” to “kids”, and “sukiz” to “squids”. In essence, the game could have been named “Stylish Squid Kids.”
This name was eventually discarded, as the team wanted to have the same title for the game worldwide and this one would have only worked for Japan. Eventually, “Splatoon” was chosen, and the rest is history.
What do you think of this revelation? Do you prefer
