This upcoming Sunday will mark the 29th anniversary of the first time Final Fantasy ever graced consoles in Japan. While that may not mean much right now, what it does mean is next year on December 18th Final Fantasy will be celebrating its 30th anniversary. Final Fantasy‘s brand manager, Shinji Hashimoto, revealed in a recent issue of Famitsu that Square Enix is working on several secret projects in celebration of this upcoming event. At this moment, almost nothing is known about what these projects are, but it is certainly an exciting announcement.
I say “almost nothing” because one of these special events was revealed by Hashimoto in Famitsu. Square Enix will be hosting an escape game based on Final Fantasy XIV throughout Japan in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Sapporo and Fukuoka. There is no word as to when it will happen or if fans in the West will get a chance to partake without traveling halfway across the world, though. Otherwise, the only other thing mentioned is that these projects will be revealed “soon.”
