Square Enix Promises “A Big Year” for Final Fantasy in 2018

0

The Final Fantasy series celebrated its 30th anniversary this year with the release of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age and a brand new expansion to Final Fantasy XIV called Stormblood. A constant stream of DLC has also been coming out for Final Fantasy XV. So far it’s been a great year for fans of the series, but it looks like Square Enix won’t be holding back any Final Fantasy goodies in 2018.

In a video interview by Edamame Arcade on YouTube, Final Fantasy‘s brand manager Shinji Hashimoto said Square Enix is preparing for a “big year” in 2018. As of now, we only know of one major title releasing in the series next year: Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. However, just a few days ago CEO Yosuke Matsuda teased the company would announce release dates for “major titles” between April and E3 2018. This is leading many to speculate we may get a release date for the first part of the Final Fantasy VII remake.

What do you guys think? What do you expect from Final Fantasy in 2018? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Writing is half of my life. Video games make up the other half. I decided to put these two hobbies together and join Gamnesia back in 2015. I spend most of my time working at a retail store and paying off my student debt. When I'm not getting stressed about the thousands of dollars I owe my loan providers, I play tons of video games (which just puts me into more debt). I'm also currently writing a novel in what little spare time I have. It's a story I've been wanting to write for a while, but I don't want to talk about it until I have most of it completed. Any Gamnesia-related inquiries may be sent to [email protected] Feel free to follow my personal Twitter if you want (@Pindlo). I mostly just retweet things.
