Even though its Kickstarter campaign more than quadrupled its initial request, the indie space simulator Star Citizen is still reaching astronomical heights in crowdfunding by bringing in huge amounts of money. Through its development, Chris Roberts’ brainchild has gained over 60 million dollars from loyal patrons, and today it smashed through another landmark. $63,000,000 in, over 60 stretch goals reached, and the amount of money donated is still growing… what more could a loyal fan dream of?
As it turns out, they still managed to add something I never knew I wanted. Yes, they are adding space pets for the $64,000,000 incentive. By taking inspiration by such loyal creatures as
Alien‘s Jones, Roberts Space Industries is giving us animal companions that will be with us through thick and thin. The unfortunate reality of the situation is that in a game that features first-person combat everywhere and anywhere, we’re going to be seeing some ex-cats. Late cats. To put it bluntly, we’re going to be seeing quite a few dead pets via unruly inhabitants of the ‘verse.
What do you think of this addition? Is Star Citizen now your most hyped game of all time? Should we expect to see money flowing out of your pockets like money falling out of pockets?
