It’s been a long wait with several delays along the way, but Star Fox Zero is finally launching on Wii U on April 22nd. Digital Foundry got the chance to go hands-on with the Nintendo/Platinum game a little early, and they’ve conducted a frame rate test to see if it holds up to the 60 frames per second target.
Unfortunately, it often does not. While they noted that it often goes for long stretches of time at the desired frame rate, it frequently dips to around 50 frames per second, and on-screen explosions can cause the frame rate to drop to 40 or below. The game relies heavily on a dual-screen display, but it looks like a smooth frame rate is sacrificed in the process. You can check out their analysis video by clicking above.
