The Star Wars franchise never really went away, but it’s currently mounting a “comeback” of epic proportions. The Force Awakens is on pace to shatter box office records domestically and globally, and Star Wars Battlefront is putting up some impressive numbers of its own. According to publisher EA, the immensely popular multiplayer game has already sold 12 million copies in just two months.
Star Wars Battlefront sold around 6 million copies in its debut month of November (despite launching in the middle of the month), and it sold another six million in December. EA was actually hoping to sell more copies than they did in November, but a strong second month for the game has it on pace to smash its projection of 13 million copies sold by March easily. Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter estimates that Battlefront has generated around $660 million since launch.
