Many video game movies often have tumultuous lifespans. For example, Warcraft was originally a love story written and directed by Sam Raimi, while the Halo film directed by Peter Jackson ended up becoming Neill Blomkamp’s District 9. Things often change at a moment’s notice, which is why it is none too surprising that a new director has been announced for the Uncharted film. Shawn Levy, the man behind Night at The Museum and Stranger Things, will now be helming the popular adventure game’s film adaptation.
Given how incredible Stranger Things was/still is, Levy will likely be good for the film. But when you consider the rigors that video game adaptations go through, especially Uncharted, it seems it will likely be some time before we see anything come of it.
If you are curious, the previous director of the film was Seth Gordon, who has directed Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief. He left alongside the scriptwriter, Joe Carnahan (The Gray, Smokin’ Aces).
