As we reported in our recent Media Create sales coverage, Nintendo Switch has been selling like crazy since Black Friday. Holiday titles like Super Mario Party, Pokémon: Let’s Go, and Super Smash Bros. are all huge hits, and evergreen titles like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe continue to perform admirably as well. All of this has boosted Switch sales to new heights in recent weeks, helping it achieve another milestone while gaining on a competitor with a massive head start.
Over the past two weeks Switch has put up impressive numbers with 174,770 units and 199,982 units moved in Japan in the last week of December and first week of January, respectively. This brings the console’s lifetime sales in its home region up to 7,046,766. That puts the hybrid console less than 700,000 units behind PlayStation 4, despite the fact that Sony’s machine had a head start of more than three years.
