During last month’s Nintendo Direct, we got the thrilling news that a new Animal Crossing game is on the way to Nintendo Switch. The reveal listed the upcoming game’s launch window broadly as “2019,” and no actual gameplay footage was shown. This has led many to speculate that the game is still early on in development, but according to a scoop from a source that has been correct in the past, it’s coming much sooner than we thought.
Insider Pixelpar recently published an article on Lootpots claiming to have some inside knowledge on Nintendo’s target for Animal Crossing. According to his source, Nintendo hopes to launch the game by the end of the first (calendar) quarter of 2019 or shortly after, which would put its release date sometime in March or April. Nintendo closes the books on the fiscal year on March 31st, 2019, so they’re likely pushing to have the game out before then if possible.
This information is, of course, unconfirmed by Nintendo at this time. That said, Pixelpar was one of the first to leak accurate information about Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee. His twitter account steadily dropped hints about key details, including the names, a month in advance of any official announcement.
