Psyduck and Snubbull Arrive at Build-A-Bear

Just a few weeks ago, we reported that Build-A-Bear Workshop was teasing a future Detective Pikachu collaboration. Those plans still haven’t been fully unveiled, but in the meantime Build-A-Bear just announced some other Pokémon collaborations. Starting today, Psyduck and Snubbull are available at Build-A-Bear, both in-stores and online.

Those who order online can get an exclusive bundle for either Pokémon for $65.
Psyduck comes with a Psyduck raincoat, a Luxury Ball hoodie, a 6-in-1 Psyduck sound, and a Build-A-Bear Workshop exclusive Psyduck Pokémon Trading Card Game card. Snubbull’s bundle includes a Snubbull vest, a Snubbull bow, a 6-in-1 Snubbull sound, and a Build-A-Bear Workshop exclusive Snubbull Pokémon Trading Card Game card.

Alternatively, you can head to your local Build-A-Bear Workshop in person. Snubbull and Psyduck will cost $32 as standalone products, and you can also purchase their various accessories individually. The standalone plush dolls also come with their respective trading cards.

Build-A-Bear Teases a Detective Pikachu Event

Over the years, Build-A-Bear Workshop has teamed up with The Pokémon Company to create numerous Pokémon plushies, including Vulpix, Meowth, Squirtle, Charmander, Eevee, and many more. With hundreds of adorable monsters to choose from, it’s a match made in heaven, and the next team-up between the two companies may be their most popular one yet.

The official Twitter account for Build-A-Bear just tweeted out an old Detective Pikachu trailer with the following message: “We have a hunch that this trailer will only make everyone even MORE excited for May 10. Details on an upcoming in-store event inspired by Pokémon #DetectivePikachu coming soon!

That’s right, Build-A-Bear is doing a Detective Pikachu event! Presumably, the titular talking Pikachu himself will be available for purchase, but it’s not clear if other creatures from the movie will be part of the festivities. There’s no official date for this event at this time, but with the movie just a month away we suspect we’ll be hearing more very soon.

Piplup is the Newest Addition to Build-A-Bear Workshop’s Pokémon Collection

The Build-A-Bear Workshop has become a staple in shopping malls across North America and the UK. Not only that, but with the demise of Toys “R” Us this year, they are the only major toy retailer still in business. The spotlight is on them now, and Build-A-Bear isn’t going down lightly thanks to their innovative approach and intuitive brand deals. This includes their collection of Pokémon-based toys, of which it looks like Piplup is the newest to the table.

With an online exclusive bundle, this Generation IV starter looks pretty adorable. For a price tag of $60 US dollars, you get yourself a Piplup stuffed animal that comes packed with your custom-chosen stuffing, different clothing options, a special 6-in-1 Piplup voice box, and a Build-A-Bear exclusive Pokémon Trading Card. No doubt this is bound to find its way into a lot of gifts this holiday season.

Alolan Vulpix is Coming to Build-A-Bear Workshop

In recent years, The Pokémon Company and Build-A-Bear Workshop have engaged in a wonderfully fruitful relationship that has resulted in the creation of adorable plush versions of Jigglypuff, Meowth, Squirtle, Charmander, Eevee, Pikachu, and more. That lineup is soon set to expand once again, as Build-A-Bear has just revealed the next Pokémon to get the stuffed-with-fluff treatment: Alolan Vulpix.

You’ve already been able to get a normal Vulpix at Build-A-Bear Workshop for about a year, but now it’s time to cool things down with an Alolan variant. This icy fox will be available as an individual purchase for $28, or you can get it in a $60 bundle that includes a six in one sound card, a cape to dress your Alolan Vulpix in, and an exclusive Pokemon Trading Card Game card. You’ll be able to buy one beginning on September 13th.

Meowth is the Next Pokémon Plushie Coming to Build-A-Bear Workshop

Build-A-Bear Workshop and Pokémon have been working together for some time now, allowing gamers to get physical, plushie versions of some of the most popular pocket monsters. Now a new one is on its way to the store: the one and only Meowth, and it is of course getting some extra outfits to give it a real Team Rocket vibe.

Fans will be able to purchase Meowth online as part of a $60 bundle, one which comes with the Pokémon plushie, a sound chip with six available sounds (no word on if this will have lines from the show or just Meowth saying its name like a non-Team Rocket member), and two hoodies: one based off the series’ Quick Ball, and the other being Team Rocket-themed. At the start, Meowth will only be available online, but you’ll be able to get it in stores eventually for $28; the in-store version, however, will lack the sound chip and the Team Rocket hoodie. But without that second hoodie, I have to ask, what even is the point?

According to the press release, Meowth will be available to purchase online starting today, though the page for it doesn’t look to be live yet. Keep your eye out, though, because it should go live soon! Until then, you can check out some images of Meowth and its accessories in the gallery below.

Will you be adding this Pokémon to your plushie collection? Let us know in the comments!

Squirtle Splashes Into Build-A-Bear Workshops Next Month

Over the past few years, the Build-A-Bear Workshop has added several first generation Pokémon to their lineup of cute, cuddly toys, such as Pikachu, Eevee, and Charmander, and now a new one is set to join that group: Squirtle! The adorable water starter’s full package is set for an online-exclusive release next month, while pieces of it will be available in stores as well.

The Squirtle package will include an Ultra Ball-themed hoodie and Squirtle itself, as well as an exclusive Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) card, a Poké Ball Slicker for plushies, and a “6-in-1 Squirtle Sound” sound chip. It will be available online starting June 1st, but if you’d like to save some money, Squirtle, the Ultra Ball hoodie, and the TCG card can be purchased separately at any U.S., U.K., or Canadian workshops starting that same day. Just remember, the slicker and sound pack can only be obtained by ordering the online Squirtle set.

The entire Pokémon Squirtle Set purchased online will be $60 plus tax. Make-Your-Own-Pokémon Squirtle itself will be sold for $28 separately at physical workshops and will come with the exclusive TCG card. The Ultra Ball Hoodie will also be sold for $10.50 at Build-A-Bear locations.
