Nintendo Announces Big eShop Sale for Europe

Nintendo Switch has been immensely successful through two years on the market, and a major factor in that success is just how many high-quality games have been released on the console. Fortunately for European Switch owners, Nintendo has just announced a huge sale. Starting today, European customers can download a variety of games that have been discounted by as much as 66%. All of the latest discounts knock at least 30% off the price, so there’s plenty of good deals to be found. There are even a few 3DS games on sale! You can check out the full list below.

The Witness is Now Free on The Epic Games Store

Epic Games recently launched their own digital storefront to compete with the likes of Steam, and they’re offering deals for developers and players alike. Developers get to keep 88% of profits generated on the Epic Games Store (a much bigger piece of the pie than Steam allows), and players get regularly-scheduled free games. Last month Oxenfree was free to download, and now it’s been swapped out for another indie.

As of yesterday, you can pick up Jonathan Blow’s The Witness free of charge. Given that this game is normally $39.99, that’s some pretty solid savings! The Witness is a beautiful puzzle game that gives you free rein to explore an island and unravel its mysteries. It will be available for free until April 17th. The next day it will go back to its usual price tag and Transistor will take its spot as the free game on the Epic Games Store.

Undertale is 33% Off on Switch Until Delta Rune Launches

During today’s Nintendo Direct we learned that indie developer Toby Fox is bringing the first chapter of Delta Rune to Nintendo Switch. Originally released as a free download on PC, Delta Rune is an in-development spiritual successor to the immensely popular RPG Undertale and features many of the same characters. If you haven’t yet picked up Undertale itself, there’s no time like the present thanks to a new deal!

Fox wants to make sure as many people as possible have played Undertale before giving the free Delta Rune a shot, so he’s cutting Switch owners a deal. From today until February 27th (one day before Delta Rune releases on Switch) you can pick up Undertale for $10, which is $5 off the normal asking price on Switch.

Additionally, Toby Fox has confirmed that a Delta Rune port is in the works for PlayStation 4. Fox did not indicate when it will launch or if it will trigger a similar sale on the PlayStation Store, but the Undertale follow-up is on the way to PlayStation fans at some point.

Six Big Nintendo Switch Games On Sale for $45

Let’s face it, being a huge fan of video games can be an expensive hobby. Most AAA games launch with a $60 price tag, and in Nintendo’s case, they often hang onto their launch price for years and years to come, unless they land in the Nintendo Selects lineup. Fortunately, retailers will occasionally offer discounts themselves, and right now Walmart is offering solid savings on six popular Nintendo Switch titles.

Right now you can get The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Tennis Aces, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Party, and the Splatoon 2 Starter Pack each for $45, or $15 less than normal. You can also get the latter two at the same price on Amazon. It’s unclear why this deal is happening now, but you know what they say about gift horses. Take advantage of these deals while you can!

Switch Will Soon Come With a $35 eShop Card in North America

In the two years since it launched, Nintendo hasn’t been too keen on offering Switch below the $300 price point. The hybrid console has sold well at its current price point, so Nintendo simply hasn’t felt the market pressure to offer many cost-saving bundles or discounts. However, they’ve just unveiled a pretty sweet deal for North America.

Starting on Friday, February 15th, you’ll be able to get a standard Nintendo Switch for the usual $300 price tag, but with the included bonus of a $35 Nintendo eShop gift card. Most first-party Nintendo games cost $60, so this would cover just over half the cost. Alternatively, the eShop is full of fantastic indie games in the $10 – $20 range, so you could easily pick up two or three of them. Here’s
a few we recommend.

Luigi Reveals Nintendo’s Black Friday Deals

It’s the holiday season, and that means deals all around! Microsoft and Sony have already unveiled deals on Xbox One X, PlayStation 4, and more, and now it’s Nintendo’s turn. To show off their bargains, Nintendo released a video starring Luigi as well as GandaKris, a talented Amiibo modder who Nintendo hired as an Ambassador.

So what savings do the two have to show off? Nintendo revealed three deals today, including hardware bundles for two of their consoles. You’ll be able to get a Nintendo Switch bundled with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for $300, essentially saving you the cost of the game itself. If you’d like to drive your kart in style, you can also pick up a set of two white Joy-Con Wheel accessories for $15. If a more traditional handheld experience is what you’re looking for, you can also pick up a yellow and red Nintendo 2DS bundle with Super Mario Maker pre-installed for $80.

These deals aren’t quite as numerous or enticing as what the competition is offering, but that’s not terribly surprising. Nintendo’s sales this holiday season will be driven by new releases like Pokémon: Let’s Go and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Nintendo knows those titles will be mega-sellers without a discount, so they can focus on an older title like Mario Kart when offering savings.

The house of PlayStation released a humorous Black Friday sale announcement video that focuses on the joys of staying indoors and playing games during the cold winter months.

The video, paired with a blog post, also reveals some key deals on PlayStation products this holiday season. The headliner is a bundle that includes a PlayStation 4 and the critically-acclaimed new Spider-Man game for just $199. There’s also deals on controllers, VR headsets, and PlayStation Plus. Save $100 on Xbox One X or S this Black Friday

The ultra-lucrative holiday season is upon us, and that means video game publishers are about to start rolling out some major savings to entice fans to open up their wallets. You can expect sales to begin popping up across the industry soon, but one of the more intriguing deals has already been revealed by Microsoft.

In a recent blog post, Microsoft outlined their ”
biggest Black Friday sale ever.” There will be plenty of deals to choose from, but the real headline-grabber is that they’re slashing $100 off select Xbox One consoles. From November 18th through November 26th you can grab an Xbox One X for $100 less than their usual price. That puts the powerful X model at $399, which is its lowest price to date. The cheaper Xbox One S model is also getting deals, including a $100 discount on the Xbox One S Minecraft Creators Bundle and a $70 discount on other bundles.

Those who buy an Xbox One S, Xbox One X, or Xbox Wireless controller at participating retailers can also receive a free digital token for Gears of War 4. Those controllers, by the way, are going on sale ($10 off) from the 22nd through the 26th.

On top of the hardware savings, Microsoft is offering one month of Xbox Game Pass and one month of Xbox Live Gold for $1 each. These services are normally $9.99 for a single month’s subscription, so that’s quite the savings. The Game Pass savings will be available to new subscribers through January 3rd of next year, while the Gold deal lasts until November 30th.

Finally, Microsoft is also offering big savings on software. From the 22nd through the 30th of November, you can take advantage of the following deals:

  • Forza Horizon 4 for up to 35% off
  • Forza Motorsport 7 for up to 50% off
  • State of Decay 2 for 35% off
  • PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for 35% off
  • Sea of Thieves for 50% off
  • Super Lucky’s Tale for 35% off
  • Disneyland Adventures for 35% off
  • Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure for 35% off
  • Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection for 35% off

The Autumn and Winter Steam Sale Dates Have Leaked

The average PC gamer pays for their own personal Christmas every time a Steam sale shows up. People often try to plan for them financially, but when they happen, it’s a frenzy, and many gamers are willing to spend at least a fraction of their life savings on it. From new games priced way too low to classic titles at roughly the price of a McDonald’s value pick, if they had a physical stock, it would be gone in moments. It looks like we get to plan for the remaining 2018 sales, though, thanks to a legitimate leak that reveals exactly when they’ll happen.

Speaking to Kotaku UK, a verified anonymous developer shared screenshots of the sale’s internal settings, which show the exact date and time they are expected to go live, and the final day of the sale. The Autumn sale will run for one week, from November 21st at 9:55 AM to November 27th at 10:05 AM—right in time for the Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekend. The Winter sale, on the other hand, will last two weeks, from December 20th at 9:55 AM to January 3rd, 2019, at 10:05 AM. These times are expected to be in Pacific Standard Time, as that is the location of Valve’s headquarters.

Are these the dates you expected? What games are you hoping to see on sale? Let us know in the comments below!

*Requires a New Nintendo 3DS, New 3DS XL, or New 2DS XL to play.

What is curious to me from the Smash Bros. characters in 3DS games listing are the inclusions of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia and Paper Mario: Sticker Star. On the Fire Emblem side, the current Fire Emblem lineup in Ultimate does appear in Echoes but only as amiibo-bound guest characters, with Awakening and Fates curiously not being part of the E3 2018 sale. Meanwhile, either Nintendo considers the main Mario cast and their Paper iterations one and the same for the sake of the sale, or…

…probably best not to read too deep into this.

Nonetheless, see any games you might pick up in the near future? These offers end on June 21, at 8:59 a.m. PT / 11:59 a.m. ET!

Shovel Knight is On Sale to Celebrate 2 Million Copies Sold

Yacht Club Games passed a rather large milestone for any indie developer recently, surpassing 2 million total sales with their hit game Shovel Knight. The developers have provided data that shows which platform the game sold the most on and what region it was most popular in.

Surprisingly, the PC and 3DS versions make up almost half of Shovel Knight‘s total sales. The Switch edition also clocks in at 17.6% of the 2 million, even though it released well after the original launch. The Switch is also the biggest source of revenue for Shovel Knight, since it outpaced the sales of other consoles so drastically in the short amount of time it’s been out. With the release of Nintendo Switch and Specter of Torment, Yacht Club Games was able to double their revenue in 2017 compared to 2016.

So what do all of these sale numbers mean for the gamers? It means we get to celebrate by playing the game! If you somehow haven’t managed to pick up Shovel Knight yet, the game is now on sale on all major platforms. You can purchase Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove at 20% off for $19.99. This edition of the game comes with Specter of Torment, Plague of Shadows, and the King Knight campaign and battle mode when they release later on.

Grab your shovels and get to digging! Will you be picking up Shovel Knight now that it’s on sale, or are you patiently waiting for the new content that’s coming to the game later? Leave your thoughts down in the comments below!
