Podcast: Welcome to Gamnesia After Dark

Welcome to the pilot episode of Gamnesia’s new, more casual podcast: Gamnesia After Dark! Featuring less news and more silly stories, we’re aiming to help you get to know us on the staff a bit better and maybe have a bit of fun while doing so. This week, Steven, Aloisia, and Alex discuss the games we’re currently playing, as well as diving into the games that define who we are as gamers.

This is our first episode of the new podcast, so we want to hear your feedback! If there are things you didn’t like, let us know so we can work on improving those going forward. Equally as important, if there are things you do like, let us know so we can try to do them more.

As a preemptive warning, Gamnesia After Dark will make use of stronger language than our past podcasts have. While we certainly hope you will listen to and enjoy this and all subsequent episodes, we advise you to listen with caution if you are sensitive to such language.

This Scary Black Ops III Easter Egg Turns Nuketown’s Mannequins into Weeping Angels from Doctor Who

A terrifying new easter egg in Call of Duty: Black Ops III was discovered recently by YouTuber TheHiddenBlade01, which turns all of the mannequins on the map “NUK3TOWN” into the horrific Weeping Angels from Doctor Who.

To trigger the easter egg, the player must shoot off all of the mannequin’s arms, which will immediately bring them all to life and make them attack the player characters. The mannequins are very strong, but they are only able to move when no player is looking at them, so they have to sneak up behind the players and attack them while they aren’t in sight. Because of this, they can be quite scary, as they appear seemingly out of nowhere, and deal a lot of damage to unsuspecting players. When they are shot, the mannequins scream in pain but remain completely immobile, which makes them even creepier.

Check out the video above!

The “Weeping Angels” are fictional monsters from the British sci-fi show Doctor Who, and serve as the inspiration for this easter egg. Essentially, these monsters turn to immortal stone statues when any living being is looking at them. When nobody’s looking, however, they are quick, brutal monsters and are nearly impossible to kill. They were introduced in the episode “Blink,” one of the series’ most famous episodes, and have made several appearances in the show since then.

Personally, I love this easter egg. It’s very extensive and well done, especially for something that most players will never even see. The Angels are depicted really well, and seeing them pop out of nowhere is terrifying. The added sound effects for their deaths and the way that they are frozen in grotesque, animal-like poses makes the easter egg even scarier.

LEGO Dimensions Will Have Sets For Doctor Who, Portal 2, and More

Last month, Warner Bros. unveiled a LEGO toys-to-life game titled LEGO Dimensions, including the game’s starter pack and additional sets featuring Back to the Future and LEGO Ninjago; now, we know that five additional sets will also release for the title throughout 2015 and 2016.

According to an instruction manual for the Back to the Future set that was discovered on the LEGO website (which has since been removed), expansion sets featuring Doctor Who, Portal 2, The Simpsons, and Scooby-Doo will be releasing for LEGO Dimensions.

The sets for The Simpsons, Doctor Who, and Portal 2 will be level packs, which means that they will unlock new levels for LEGO Dimensions in addition to new characters, items, and vehicles; the Jurassic World and Scooby-Doo sets will be team packs, which only unlock new characters, items, and vehicles. You can check out the specifics for the sets in the gallery below.
