Octopath Traveler Leaks for PC

Last summer, Square Enix launched Octopath Traveler exclusively on Nintendo Switch, and the old-school RPG topped the sales charts and received critical acclaim. Square’s new hit has stayed exclusive to Nintendo’s hybrid console thus far, but that will soon change. The game was recently rated for a PC release in Korea, and today someone at Square apparently jumped the gun and leaked the official announcement.

As reported by Gematsu, the official Square Enix website published a blog post for a PC release for Octopath Traveler, then quickly deleted it. The post indicated that the RPG will hit Steam and the Square Enix store on June 7th. It also contained a brief overview of the game’s characters and features, although there wasn’t anything new.

Square Enix has grown quite confident in the selling power of games on Nintendo Switch, and the division that developed Octopath Traveler is focused primarily on that console, but after nearly a year of exclusivity, it seems they’re looking to bring it to a new audience. Square is also working on a mobile prequel to Octopath Traveler, so expanding the brand is clearly a priority.

Nintendo Accidentally Leaks New Mode for Smash Ultimate

Nintendo’s been mum about what exactly is in the big 3.0 update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate aside from Persona 5‘s Joker. However, it looks like someone on Nintendo’s marketing team done goofed. A new Smash-centric commercial was uploaded onto the official Nintendo YouTube page earlier today, and it revealed a brand new mode within the first seconds of the video.

It’s a bit blurry, but from the look of things, Stage Builder will be making a comeback. First introduced in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, players could create customized stages using pre-set blocks, platforms, and hazards. This feature was carried over to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, where it was expanded upon thanks to the ability to actually draw the stage with the Gamepad. The feature was cut from the release version of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but it looks like it won’t be long before we’re able to create the stages of our dreams once again. Exactly how the new Stage Builder will work is unknown, but considering the exponential improvement it made from Brawl to Wii U, it’s probably going to be even better than the last version.

What else will join Joker and Stage Builder in the 3.0 update? No one knows for sure. Many speculate that Home-Run Contest will make its return, or maybe a more traditional All-Star mode is on the way. All we know for sure is that it’s swiftly approaching and will probably bring many, many amiibo along with it.

Best Buy May Have Leaked Joker’s Render for Smash Bros. Ultimate

The first new playable character coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate via the Fighters Pass DLC is set to arrive any day now. Ren Amamiya of Persona 5, better known by his Phantom Thieves of Hearts alias “Joker,” infiltrated the theatre hosting The Game Awards last year with the show-stopping reveal that he would debut in Ultimate as Challenger #1 of the season pass. Now it looks like that long-awaited time might be right around the corner.

Straight from electronics retailer Best Buy, their weekly flyer for March 31 to April 6 came with an ad for the Fighters Pass, featuring a never-before-seen render of the illustrious Joker himself, featured below.

We have yet to see the new fighter in action aside from a backshot tease from the February Nintendo Direct. We do know that Version 3.0 is being touted as the ”
ULTIMATE Spring Update,” with new content being added; it stands to reason that this update will tie in with Joker’s addition. And if the weekly ad is any indication, this update is coming really soon. Whether it will follow a possible Smash Bros. Direct for a more in-depth look prior to its release is yet to be seen.

Aside from this render leak — assuming it’s real — Nintendo has been tight-lipped about the future of
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, though dataminers have looked into the game’s files and have discovered some interesting tidbits. It has been uncovered which stage pulled from Persona 5 will likely be released with Joker, as well as the possible return of Homerun Contest and Stage Builder as extra game modes. One thing’s for certain: Joker is bringing a ton of goodies with him once he starts stealing the show in Smash, and hopefully that occasion will come with an early look at the Fighters Pass Challenger #2.

In related news, last week’s premiere of the
Persona 5: The Animation OVA “Stars and Ours” ended with a tease of a possible definitive edition of Joker’s home game, titled Persona 5: The Royal. More information on the PlayStation 4 title, which features a new character, is expected to drop following the Persona Live Concert on April 24.

Rumor: A New Sonic Movie Image Has Been Leaked

Here we go again! The long-expected Sonic the Hedgehog movie is finally becoming a reality on November 15th. Officially SEGA has only released a teaser image showing a shadowy outline of the Blue Blur’s new design, but there have been numerous leaks since then. Recently, some promotional materials gave us a good look (if you can call it that) at Sonic’s redesign, and now another image has surfaced.

The image (below) appears to be Sonic racing along a road, perhaps in pursuit of a vehicle. Tails’ Channel claims they have been able to contact a Paramount employee and confirm that this is a legitimate image from the upcoming movie. The source of the leak isn’t clear, but it appears to be from another promotional document.

Sonic’s New Movie Design Has Apparently Leaked

SEGA has been planning a live-action/CG movie adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog for years, and it’s now well into production, with a release date of November 15th, 2019. Earlier teaser images hinted at a redesigned, more humanoid version of the titular hedgehog, and fans and developers alike have expressed criticism. Today we may finally have our first full look at the new Sonic.

The Super Sonic Zone has acquired images that they claim come from a (probably leaked) film style guide. The style guide describes the Blue Blur as “irreverent and sarcastic,” “heroic and adventurous,” “confident and competitive,” “likable,” and “mischievous but not malicious.” As previously reported, Sonic is now depicted with two eyes instead of the single, large eye he sports in the games.

Update: The Super Sonic Zone now reports that these images come from Hollywood marketing firm Hamagami Carroll. The page where the images were found was quickly removed. The Super Sonic Zone is fully convinced of their legitimacy. Although there’s no confirmation from SEGA at this time, these appear to be the real deal.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy for Switch Leaked Again

The Spyro Reignited Trilogy launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One last November, but what about Nintendo Switch? The remastered bundle made no mention of Nintendo’s hybrid console in its initial reveal, but soon after the official Nintendo UK store temporarily accepted pre-orders for “Spyro the Dragon Remastered.” Even the Sypro UK store briefly claimed it would be coming to Switch, but eventually both pages were removed.

Nintendo has been silent on the whole situation, and Toys For Bob producer Peter Kavic would later claim that he was unaware of any Switch version of the game in the works. However, yet another listing has just popped up, months after the game’s initial release. This time GameStop Germany put a Switch version of the Reignited Trilogy in their system with a release date (most likely a placeholder) of August 16th. Once again, the listing was later removed.

It’s not really clear why there’s so much secrecy around this alleged Switch version, but if they’re trying to keep it under wraps, they haven’t exactly done the best job. Hopefully, we’ll get an official reveal soon and the speculation can end.

The Autumn and Winter Steam Sale Dates Have Leaked

The average PC gamer pays for their own personal Christmas every time a Steam sale shows up. People often try to plan for them financially, but when they happen, it’s a frenzy, and many gamers are willing to spend at least a fraction of their life savings on it. From new games priced way too low to classic titles at roughly the price of a McDonald’s value pick, if they had a physical stock, it would be gone in moments. It looks like we get to plan for the remaining 2018 sales, though, thanks to a legitimate leak that reveals exactly when they’ll happen.

Speaking to Kotaku UK, a verified anonymous developer shared screenshots of the sale’s internal settings, which show the exact date and time they are expected to go live, and the final day of the sale. The Autumn sale will run for one week, from November 21st at 9:55 AM to November 27th at 10:05 AM—right in time for the Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekend. The Winter sale, on the other hand, will last two weeks, from December 20th at 9:55 AM to January 3rd, 2019, at 10:05 AM. These times are expected to be in Pacific Standard Time, as that is the location of Valve’s headquarters.

Are these the dates you expected? What games are you hoping to see on sale? Let us know in the comments below!

Footage of New Harry Potter Game Leaks Online

Early this morning, leaked footage of a possible Harry Potter video game “apparated” online. This caused, naturally, a massive firestorm of chaos in the fan community. Judging by the footage, this could end up being the most expansive and impressive Harry Potter video game to date.

Reddit user u/VapeThisBros originally leaked the footage, allegedly taken during the tail-end of a mall survey. BBC News’ Lizo Mzimba reported that the game’s possible title could be “Harry Potter Magic Awakened.” Warner Bros. did not verbally respond to the leak, but it almost immediately issued a takedown of the leaked footage. Of course, mirrored videos still remain online.

The leaked footage showed off a rather impressive character creator where players can customize their own Hogwarts student. It’s unknown if players will be able to choose their Hogwarts House in the character creator or will be sorted in-game. Players seem to be able to wander around key areas of the Harry Potter franchise like the Great Hall, Diagon Alley, and the Forbidden Forrest. The game features third-person combat mechanics, and players will be able to hurl spells at goblins, trolls, and dark wizards.

The “press release” that also leaked with the video states that the game will take place in the 19th century, well before the events of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Players will be in their fifth year of Hogwarts, get to choose between eight different character classes, and decide on whether to follow the path of good or evil.

It remains unknown who exactly is developing the game. As Harry Potter is a Warner Bros. property, it’s safe to say that a Warner Bros.-owned game developer is probably working on it. Rocksteady and Avalanche Software are currently the most speculated of the bunch, but no company has stepped forward to confirm anything.

It’s unknown when the game will be released, or when we will even get an official confirmation of the game’s existence. Either way, let’s hope it doesn’t end up like Hogwarts Mystery.

New Yoshi Game Has Its Title Leaked

Back during E3 2017, Nintendo unveiled a new Yoshi game for Nintendo Switch. The latest adventure of Mario’s dinosaur friend was slated to come out sometime in 2018, but after it was absent from this year’s E3, Nintendo confirmed that it’s been delayed to 2019. Nintendo has been largely quiet on the upcoming game, but it looks like that’s changing soon. In fact, one key detail has already leaked.

Nintendo was planning to hold a Nintendo Direct presentation this evening, but they opted to delay it after an earthquake struck Japan. However, it seems a Nintendo website update went out in anticipation of the Direct, potentially revealing some of the news it will hold. Specifically, some users have noticed a recommendation for “Yoshi’s Crafted World” popping up while perusing the online store

Obviously, Nintendo has not yet officially commented on this potential leak, and we don’t expect them to. The Direct will soon be rescheduled, and we’ll likely see the announcement then.

Diablo III: Eternal Collection Leaks for Nintendo Switch

A while back there were rumblings and rumors of Diablo III potentially coming to Nintendo Switch, but nothing substantial emerged from the rumor mill and Blizzard remained silent. That silence will likely soon be ending. According to a quickly deleted article on Forbes, Diablo III is headed to Nintendo’s hybrid console later this year. It looks like someone jumped the gun a little early on an official announcement.

According to the deleted Forbes article, this latest release of the game is titled Diablo III: Eternal Collection, and it features exclusive content and game modes in addition to all previously released expansions. Extra content includes the Legend of Ganondorf cosmetic armor set, Triforce portrait frame, a “Chicken pet” (presumably a Cucco), and Echoes of the Mask cosmetic wigs. The Switch version of the game will also feature numerous ways to play. This includes:

  • Up to four players together on a single Switch
  • Up to four players on four separate Switch consoles playing via local wifi
  • Online team-ups on Nintendo Switch Online

When Nintendo Switch Online goes live in September, Diablo III will also be one of the games that makes use of the new cloud saves feature. You can check out a full-sized picture of Barbarian Ganondorf below.

Undertale’s Switch Release Date May Have Leaked

Undertale was a surprise smash hit in 2015, wowing players with its memorable characters, morality system, and layered storytelling. The fairy tale-esque indie adventure has cultivated an enthusiastic community of fans, and it’s about to grow even larger. During a Nintendo Direct a few months back we learned that Undertale is coming to Nintendo Switch. When we expect it to hit Nintendo’s hybrid console?

So far we’ve only been told that it’s coming in 2018 in the West, but Japan may have a more concrete release date. Amazon Japan recently put up a listing for the game, claiming it would launch on September 15th. This listing has since been altered, and it now displays a generic placeholder release date of December 31st, 2018. It seems likely that they jumped the gun and revealed its release date early, but it’s also possible that it was an error, so this date is not yet officially confirmed.

In addition to the potential release date, the listing also confirmed that
Undertale will have a physical release in Japan. Whether or not Western players are also treated to a retail version remains to be seen.

A Best Buy Listing Suggests Netflix and YouTube are Coming to Switch

Nintendo Switch has been out for over a year now, and fans have been anxiously waiting for two essential apps that have been absent from the eShop. While Hulu came to the hybrid console late last year, Netflix, YouTube, and other options are still absent. Well, according to a Nintendo Switch listing from Best Buy, that may well be changing soon.

Best Buy’s description for the Nintendo Switch console briefly showed not only Hulu, but YouTube and Netflix as available apps on the device. The page has since been edited to remove references to all three of them, but images remain thanks to those who spotted it first on Reddit. We can’t say for certain that these apps are coming, but it’s likely that this news was meant to be announced during the Nintendo Direct at E3.

I’m sure Nintendo will give a release date for both these apps during their Nintendo Direct tomorrow, which begins at 12:00 PM ET. Are you looking forward to watching your favorite content on the Switch? Let us know in the comments section.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Screenshots Have Leaked Ahead of Ubisoft’s Press Conference

Ubisoft confirmed the existence of a new Assassin’s Creed game a little over a week ago, teasing they would show more at this year’s E3. The newest entry will be set in ancient Greece, and it will be called Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

We’re just about an hour away from Ubisoft’s press conference, but it wouldn’t be a true E3 Assassin’s Creed reveal if the game didn’t manage to leak first. That’s right, we already have our first look at Odyssey, and it seems like it blends together the best features of the series. This includes ships, eagle flight, and the improved combat that was introduced in Origins.

The official description for the game also leaked ahead of the conference:

“Take control of your destiny and write your own epic odyssey as you journey to become a legendary Spartan hero. Live incredible adventures in a world where every choice matters. Rejected by your family, you must embark on an adventure form outcast mercenary to legendary Spartan hero to uncover the truth about your past.”

We’ll likely see more of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey very soon.

Hitman Teasers Hint at New Information Coming Tomorrow

The Hitman series saw a revival a few years back, with Agent 47’s newest, episodic adventures giving rise to numerous clever assassinations and stealthy infiltrations. IO Interactive stated a while back that more Hitman would be coming, and on Monday we got our first teases of that coming true. With a full announcement scheduled for Thursday, June 7th, it’s sounding like Agent 47 is returning to the field once again.

Our first tease was a new teaser trailer posted to the Hitman Twitter account. As you can see for yourself below, the video teaser starts out with a grayed out background, a silhouette, and a message stating, “Target Incoming.” At the bottom of the screen, a fingerprint flashes with the words “Scan for Clearance.” After the fingerprint disappears (presumably because someone tried to scan their way in), a message appears stating “Access Denied // June 7th, 2018.”

As if that wasn’t enough to get everyone stirred up, later that day Wario64 tweeted out a new image discovered within a teaser site set up by WB Games: a Hitman 2 logo. It’s looking like Warner Bros. will be IO’s new publisher for the series going forward.

Are you excited to see Agent 47’s journey to continue? Did you finish Season 1 of Hitman? Sound off in the comments!

Fortnite Icon Discovered on Switch eShop by Data Miners

For months now we’ve been hearing rumors that Epic Games’ hit Battle Royale experience, Fortnite, is coming to Nintendo Switch. It was recently even rated for release by the Korean Ratings Board. If you’re still not sold on this being true, even more evidence has already surfaced ahead of time, this time from Nintendo itself.

Data miner @SciresM on Twitter recently did some digging on the Nintendo Switch eShop, and discovered data for a game icon and a future update for Fortnite. This is the same person who declared that Switch is completely compromised due to an exploit in the Tegra X1 architecture.

As GameXplain speculates, the presence of the icon and update on eShop could suggest that the release isn’t far away. Nintendo has occasionally used Directs to announce games and then immediately release them, so we could see Fortnite on Switch as early as June 12th.

It Looks Like Fortnite, FighterZ, and More Are Coming to Switch

E3 is just over a week away now, and the rumor mill is really starting to heat up. Numerous developers are struggling to keep their big reveals a secret, including Nintendo. Shortly after Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee! were leaked and then officially confirmed, another juicy Nintendo rumor surfaced, this time in the realm of third-party support.

We’ve heard rumblings for months now that Fortnite could possibly be coming to Nintendo Switch, and now an image has surfaced suggesting several other key titles. The image depicts known upcoming Switch games like Mario Tennis Aces, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, and FIFA 19 alongside Fortnite, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Paladins, and two games that haven’t even been officially announced yet: Overcooked 2 and Killer Queen Black.

Kotaku claims that a source familiar with Epic Games’ plans has confirmed that Fortnite is indeed coming to Switch. Separately, they’ve been told by a source familiar with Bandai Namco’s plans that FighterZ for Switch is also legitimate. In speaking with other sources, Kotaku is convinced the rest of the leak is correct as well.

Following these reports, the Korean Ratings Board put up a listing for Fortnite on Switch, making it even more likely that at least part of the leak is true, if not all of it. Eurogamer responded to the listing by saying that their sources indicate Fortnite for Switch is real as well.

Walmart Outs SEGA’s Team Sonic Racing for Nintendo Switch

E3 is less than two weeks away, and Walmart already couldn’t contain themselves when accidentally dropping names on several yet to be revealed titles. Now, after a tease from the Sonic social channels cheekily put up in the midst of yesterday’s Pokémon announcements, the retail giant has accidentally ousted yet another game, this time being the anticipated racer SEGA teased way back at SXSW.

Team Sonic Racing was revealed early for a Nintendo Switch release so far, and given its looks, it seems highly likely that All Stars Racing developer Sumo Digital is back on board after rumors sparked in late January. The full product description for the game continues below:

Team Sonic Racing combines the best elements of arcade and fast-paced competitive style racing as you face-off with friends in intense multiplayer racing. Race together and work together as a team by sharing power-ups and speed boosts. Take control of your racing style – Choose from 3 distinct character types and unlock game changing vehicle customization options to suit your racing style. Speed up. Gear Up Team Racing at Sonic Speed!

Online Multiplayer & Local Co-Op Modes: 12 players per race, 4 player split screen, and various offline / online race modes including Grand Prix Mode, Exhibition Mode, Time-Trial and Team Adventure Mode.

Team Racing: Race as a team, win as a team. Use various team moves to assist your teammates, knock out opponents and unleash your Team Ultimate.

Performance & Skin Customization: Alter the appearance and handling of your vehicle.

Wisps: 14 spectacular offensive and defensive items to help overcome rival teams and get ahead!

Adventure Mode: Unique story experience where players are introduced to basic game features and characters.

Various Characters and Classes: 15 playable characters from across the Sonic Universe and 3 distinct character types including Speed, Technique, and Power classes.

Now it’s a waiting game for either SEGA’s official confirmation, or Walmart chalking their own leak up to being “speculative in nature” like before… barring the box art, screenshots, and elaborate details, of course.

Rumor: Resident Evil 2 Remake Details Leak

It’s been almost three years since Capcom first announced that Resident Evil 2 is getting a remake on modern platforms. Capcom has confirmed that it will be built from the ground up, not just remastered, and that it’s seeking to capture the spirit of the original. Aside from those few tidbits, it’s been radio silence since 2015.

Capcom may be playing things close to the chest officially, but if a report from gaming site Rely on Horror is to believed, someone close to the project has been leaking details. According to their source, the Resident Evil 2 Remake will be built in the RE Engine (like Resident Evil VII), but will feature an over-the-shoulder perspective similar to Resident Evil 4 instead of a first-person perspective. It’s said that the camera will occasionally be “stylized” differently, but it’s not exactly clear what this means. Rely on Horror speculates that the game will alternate between an over-the-shoulder perspective and a fixed camera perspective similar to the game’s original view.

Like Resident Evil VII, the remake is said to use photogrammetry scanning for improved photorealism. The game is said to run at 30 frames per second with a 1080p resolution on PlayStation 4, while the Pro version runs at 60 frames per second with a dynamically scaling resolution that will at times reach 4K and at times come short. Rely on Horror’s source claims it will be the best-looking Capcom game made to date.

As for content, the game will include campaigns for both Leon and Claire, just like the original. These campaigns are said to be much longer than the original, with new areas and new content. Capcom apparently contacted former employees who had worked on Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 to recruit them to the development team for the remake.

As with all rumors, this is not confirmed information, so take it with a healthy dose of skepticism. All of this information sounds entirely plausible, but there’s nothing to back it up at this point. Rely on Horror’s source says Capcom may debut a trailer for the game at E3, but they have not confirmed any such plans. Hopefully we’ll have our answer soon.

New Kingdom Hearts III Leaks Reveal Wreck-It Ralph, a Fix-It Felix Jr. Minigame, and Much More

Update: Now that the actual footage is out there, we’ve learned that the Fix-It Felix screen is actually showing part of Ralph’s summoning, not a minigame.

Original: For those who don’t know, several YouTubers and gaming news outlets were invited to experience a brand new demo of Kingdom Hearts III at a special premiere event. Attendees are not allowed to reveal any information about the game until tomorrow. However, one brave soul took one for the team. They took off-screen pictures of the demo and were promptly kicked out for it later. Fortunately, since I was not invited to this event, I’ll share all the juicy details we know about the Kingdom Hearts III demo.

Before we dive in, it’s important to know these photos originate from 4chan. While the images are extremely convincing and unlikely to be altered, we still have to take these leaks with a grain of salt.

The first big thing you’ll notice from the leaked photos is the appearance of Wreck-It Ralph. However, this doesn’t mean the character’s world will make an appearance. The demo only includes the Toy Story and Hercules worlds, meaning that Ralph is likely a summon. An exciting feature of the summon is the new “skip sequence” button, which was likely put there because of the negative reception around the first game’s incredibly long summoning animations.

But the Wreck-It Ralph fun doesn’t stop there. The Toy Story world also features a Fix-It Felix Jr. minigame, adding to Kingdom Hearts III‘s retro-inspired Classic Kingdom.

The photos also show the game being played with an Xbox One controller, reminding us that the series will make its Microsoft debut this year. If you want to see more photos from the event, check out the gallery below!

What do you guys think of the Kingdom Hearts III demo? What kind of information do you think will be revealed tomorrow? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
