One of my most anticipated expansions for LEGO Dimensions is launching in just over a month. Starting November 18th, retailers will be carrying the Sonic Level Pack, which includes Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Speedster, and The Tornado as physical figurines. While we don’t have any footage of the new levels, we now know a little bit more about what characters will appear in the new content. Joining Sonic and Dr. Eggman in the lineup, Knuckles, Tails, Shadow, and fan favorite Big the Cat will enter the fun as well. Here’s hoping we set off on an adventure to find Froggy!
In the latest addition to the LEGO video game franchise, LEGO Dimensions, players are now able to go head to head in four person competitive multiplayer called Battle Arenas. Players can take each other on in 21 different arenas and in the 4 different game types called “Capture the Flag,” “Objective,” “Base Bash,” and finally “Tick, Tag, and Boom.” Each of the Battle Arenas in new expansion packs are still compatible with the original Starter Pack.
Back in June, Warner Bros. revealed that a bunch of new LEGO Dimensions characters would be coming this fall. A Ghostbusters Story Pack, Adventure Time and Mission Impossible Level Packs, Adventure Time and Harry Potter Team Packs, and an A-Team Fun Pack will all arrive next week, while other characters like Sonic the Hedgehog and The Gremlins will arrive in November. Warner Bros. recently revealed that three more packs based on The LEGO Batman Movie and Knight Rider will be arriving in February.
“Coinciding with the release of the upcoming film on which it’s based, The LEGO Batman Movie Story Pack, will provide a deep, story-driven gameplay experience with iconic DC characters in six puzzle-packed levels and new LEGO Gateway bricks that allow players to build the Bat-Computer atop the LEGO Toy Pad. The pack comes with buildable Batgirl and Robin minifigures and the 3-in-1 buildable Batwing which can be rebuilt into The Black Thunder and Bat-Tank…. Batman fans can broaden their LEGO Dimensions gameplay with Excalibur Batman from The LEGO Batman Movie. The Fun Pack comes with a buildable Batman minifigure and a 3-in-1 buildable Bionic Steed which can be rebuilt into the Bat-Raptor and Ultrabat for additional in-game abilities.” — Warner Bros.
The Knight Rider Pack will feature Michael Knight and K.I.T.T. from the original 80s TV show, who can be rebuilt into into the K.I.T.T. Jet and Goliath Armored Semi.
“In the game, players can activate Michael Knight’s dodging and dash abilities to solve puzzles and overpower enemies or use his Wrist Watch to uncover secrets behind x-ray walls and outsmart enemies by hacking into terminals and following trails. Players can also fight crime on four wheels with K.I.T.T., the highly advanced, artificially intelligent robotic vehicle, to boost their gameplay. Michael Knight provides access to a new Knight Rider Adventure World with its own unique Battle Arena. The Knight Rider Fun Pack will release in North America first at GameStop.” — Warner Bros.
The LEGO Batman Movie Story Pack, Excalibur Batman Fun Pack, and Knight Rider Fun Pack will launch on February 10, 2017.
TT Games has released a new trailer for the upcoming Harry Potter team pack for LEGO Dimensions. The trailer shows off some of the locations that will be present in the pack, such as Diagon Alley and various parts of Hogwarts School, all in the iconic LEGO style. The Harry Potter team pack launches on September 27th and comes with two minifigures and two new models.
During Sonic‘s 25th Anniversary celebration last week, a ton of information was revealed about the latest packs for LEGO Dimensions. In November, Warner Bros. will be releasing J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in theaters across the nation. LEGO Dimensions‘ Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them story pack will let you play through the entire film. The pack includes six levels, as well as a Newt Scamander Lego minifigure and Niffler, which can be rebuilt into the Vicious Vulture and Sinister Scorpion. A fun pack based on the movie will include a Tina Goldstein figure and Swooping Evil creature, which can be turned into the Crawling Creeper and Brutal Bloom.
Additionally, the Sonic the Hedgehog level pack will include a complete and playable level based on the legendary series. You can play through various zones like Green Hill, Labyrinth, and Emerald Coast. You also get a 3-in-1 Sonic Speedster and Tornado, which can be turned into the Blue Typhoon and Eggcatcher, respectively. The Gremlins team pack includes figures of Gizmo and Stripe, as well as 3-in-1 R.C. Racer and 3-in-1 Flash n’ Finish.
E.T.’s fun pack includes an E.T. figure and home phone that can be rebuilt into a mobile uplink and super-charged satellite. Adventure Time‘s Land of Ooo fun pack includes a minifigure of Marceline the Vampire Queen and her Lunatic Amp, which can be rebuilt into the Shadow Scorpion and Heavy Metal Monster.

In June, it was confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog would be crossing over into TT Games’ LEGO Dimensions, complete with his own blocky toy. No release date was formally given for his Level Pack at the time, which would also contain toys of the Tornado biplane and his car from Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, but at tonight’s Sonic 25th Anniversary Party, fans were given their first look at a LEGOfied Sonic universe.
SEGA’s iconic Blue Blur will be dashing through the likes of Gotham City, the Land of Ooo, and the TARDIS—as well as familiar locales such as Green Hill Zone and Emerald Coast—in the fall. Check out the trailer above!

It’s an important year for Sonic the Hedgehog. The Blue Blur officially turned 25 a little over a week ago, and while we won’t be seeing a new Sonic title until next year, there’s still plenty in store for fans of the series. This includes the addition of Sonic to the LEGO Dimensions series, in which he will receive his own figure.
Mark Warburton, producer at TT Games, has revealed images of the new figure on his Twitter. Unfortunately, the posts have been removed, but you can still check out the images in the gallery below!

Earlier in the month, Warner Bros. announced their latest lineup of LEGO Dimensions toys, which included Sonic the Hedgehog, Adventure Time, and Harry Potter. While Disney may have cancelled Disney Infinity, Warner Bros. believes that the toys-to-life genre is still very important. WB Games president David Haddad recently spoke with IGN and explained the company’s current strategy.
“We still view [toys to life] as a large and important category for us to participate in. We still view it, even though there are changes to the structure of the industry, as a very large category.” — David Haddad
Haddad further states that WB Games is “staying away from dead-ends and barriers” by allowing the Year Two content to work with the original game in 2015. I’m excited to see what else WB Games has in store for the future!
Earlier this week, we covered a rumor on the new additions that may be in store for LEGO Dimensions. As it turns out, the rumors were true. Warner Bros. released a new trailer today confirming that characters from Adventure Time, the Ghostbusters reboot, Sonic The Hedgehog, and more will be making an appearance in the toys-to-life game. The trailer itself primarily shows off the new characters, including a delightfully charming shot of Ethan Hunt lowering down his line only to tickle Scooby Doo. Many of the original voice actors, such as Adventure Time‘s Jeremy Shada and John DiMaggio, appear (or sound) to be reprising their roles in-game.
Warner Bros. will be doling out new packs in waves starting on September 27th with a Ghostbusters Story Pack, Adventure Time and Mission Impossible Level Packs, Adventure Time and Harry Potter Team Packs, and an A-Team Fun Pack. There are no confirmed dates for the next wave releases, however they promise to include characters from ThePowerpuff Girls, The Goonies, and even Gremlins. All in all, there are a total of 16 new properties that Lego and Warner Bros. have acquired. With this many franchises, it seems like Warner Bros. could scratch just about anyone’s nostalgia-fueled fan-fiction itch.
As an aside, if you are curious about the song in the trailer, it’s Ok Go’s “Here it Goes Again,” aka the treadmill dance song.

Warner Bros recently announced that upcoming plans for LEGO Dimensions will be revealed on June 9th. The franchise has benefited from solid sales, but the recent demise of Disney Infinity has cast a shadow over the toys-to-life medium. According to a new rumor, LEGO Dimensions seems to be pulling out all the stops for its upcoming expansions. A ton of new franchises may be coming to the game, including Harry Potter, Sonic the Hedgehog, The Goonies, Adventure Time, Mission: Impossible, the Ghostbusters reboot, Teen Titans, and The Powerpuff Girls.
Keep in mind, this is just a rumor. The truth will be revealed on June 9th. However, I now have the image of Ron Weasley and Ethan Hunt fighting to take the Chaos Emeralds from a LEGO Josh Brolin. So I’ve got my hopes up.
The toys-to-life market has been hot over the past few years, with Skylanders, Disney Infinity (RIP), and Amiibo all bridging the gap between toys and video games. Warner Bros. threw their hat into the ring last September with the launch of LEGO Dimensions. The popular game has seen pack from popular franchises like Back to the Future, Portal, Doctor Who, Lord of the Rings, and many, many more. After all of that, what’s next for LEGO Dimensions? We’ll be finding out very soon. Warner Bros. has released a short new teaser for the game, and it promises a “big announcement” on Thursday, June 9th. What do you hope to see announced?
Figurine collecting is a costly investment at the end of the day, and all the more so when it comes to gaming. Be it for raising your own custom fighter in Super Smash Bros. via Amiibo, placing the likes of the Doctor and Homer Simpson in the same game through LEGO Dimensions, or the simple pleasure of having various Disney Infinity and Skylanders figures sharing shelf space, toys-to-life figurines have become a lucrative boon for the companies behind them, but nonetheless an expensive luxury for the average collector.
To help ease this financial strain for the consumer, Target will be hosting a “Buy One, Get One Half Off” event on all toys-to-life figurines next week! Frugal fans of the aforementioned toys-to-life brands can now be one step closer to completing their personal collection once Target’s next sales week begins on Sunday. If these don’t suit your fancy, the “BOGO 50% Off” deal also extends to all PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 games.
Spring officially begins this year on Sunday, the 20th of March. With Spring comes a great many deal of occurrences: hibernating animals are waking up, flowers are beginning to bloom, and love may even be in the air for some of us. But screw all that – it also means games are going on sale! Looking to jump on the Spring sale wagon early this year, GameStop will begin its Spring Savings Days event tomorrow, March 18th. The event will last until the 27th, and will feature a plethora of deals on both video games and geeky merchandise alike.
Some items of note include a couple of Xbox One bundles being discounted and all used Nintendo consoles having $20 taken off of their original prices. Many recently released games will be brought down to $40 dollars, including Rise of The Tomb Raider, Halo 5, and Fallout 4. Personally, I would recommend LEGO Dimensions which is down from the daunting price of $100. The now $60 starter kit by itself has some of the best and most inventive level design ever seen in the LEGO series alongside some genuinely hilarious writing.
Included below is a gallery of GameStop’s sales flyer for this upcoming week. Do you see anything you’re interested in picking up? How about anything you would recommend to another reader? Let us know in the comments below!
A new trailer for LEGO Dimensions‘ Ghostbusters Level Pack has been released by WB Games. The trailer shows off gameplay and cutscenes from the expansion and contains all the LEGO charm that fans of the series have come to expect. The Ghostbusters Level Pack is part of LEGO Dimensions‘ wave three, which also includes characters from DC Comics, Ninjago, Doctor Who, and Back to the Future.
LEGO Dimensions is the latest player in the “toy-to-life” NFC race. While Skylanders was the original and Nintendo and Disney both have a rich history to take from, none of them can quite match the insanity WB Games is bringing to LEGO Dimensions, a game where Marty McFly and Wonder Woman can take on Sauron while driving the Mystery Machine. With a ton of expansion packs to choose from already, WB has promised that wallets will continue to wheeze in exhaustion for years to come, as the company plans to support the title with extra content until 2018 and possibly beyond.
Wave 1 begins at launch, but Wave 2 hits in December. Further expansions will follow in January, March, and May. Players can still 100% the game with the starter pack, but they will no doubt be tempted to buy more over the next three years. Collecting all of the sets will be nigh impossible, although I’m sure WB won’t mind if you try.
LEGO Dimensions and all its multiverse madness will be available for us soon come September 27. In order to give us another small taste of that madness, a new trailer has been released, and this time it is centered around everyone’s favorite paranormal investigator (sorry, not those Ghost Adventure guys): Scooby-Doo. This time the gameplay is tied in with a cute little cartoon intro in which GLaDOS from Portal makes a delivery for Shaggy and Scooby.

LEGO Dimensions will be Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s first endeavour into the “toys-to-life” business. This game will feature a large cast of different characters, coming from a vast array of different worlds. This doesn’t just spontaneously happen, and that’s where this game’s story comes in.
It isn’t too complicated. Lord Vortech, an evil and crazy mastermind, opens vortexes to different worlds in order to get his hands on the “Foundational Building Blocks” of the world, which he wants to use to control the entire universe. He gets the villains from those worlds to help him, and together they search for the Building Blocks, causing chaos and mayhem throughout the worlds. Of course, this does not go uncountered, as heroes come together to put a stop to Lord Vortech’s plans!
We’ll have to wait and see whether or not this venture is as successful as Skylanders or Amiibo. If this trailer made you more interested in the game, let us hear so in the comments below!
LEGO Dimensions is a cross-franchise toy-to-life game developed by Traveller’s Tales. The game will include characters from DC Comics, Doctor Who, Ghostbusters, Portal 2, The Wizard of Oz, The Lord of the Rings, and others.
The game will release in late September 2015 on the Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. Take a look at the new trailer above!

In a new trailer released for San Diego Comic Con, Warner Bros. showed off content from LEGO Dimensions featuring everyone’s favorite Time Lord. The trailer shows off some of the Twelfth Doctor’s interactions with the game’s main cast (Batman, Gandolf, and Wyldstyle), as well as footage of the Doctor and the TARDIS in action. The trailer also showed off several Doctor Who adversaries that will be in the game, such as the Daleks and the Cybermen; it also revealed that all of the Doctor can regenerate into his other iterations. You can check out the trailer up above!
LEGO really is thinking with portals in the latest trailer for the upcoming LEGO Dimensions. The new trailer features Portal series fan-favorite GLaDOS in complete LEGO form, leading a small group of LEGO characters through the Aperture Science Enrichment Center test facilities.
The trailer showcases the features players will be able to use with the LEGO Toy Pad that uploads the LEGO characters into the game: growing and shrinking characters, as well as creating their own Portal style portals within the game itself. It ends with a short cameo by LEGO Chell and LEGO Wheatly. I suppose if Valve isn’t working on a new Portal game, then this project is at least a neat alternative. LEGO Dimensions will be released on September 27th.
