Today in the world of clever fan creations we have something that combines two of my great loves: Nintendo Switch and playing with LEGO bricks. YouTuber RubiksWiiU makes custom LEGO creations, and his latest is a Nintendo Switch replica, complete with detachable Joy-Cons and a kickstand on the back, just like the real thing. He’s even offering tutorials for anyone interested in making a LEGO Switch for themselves.

LEGOs and Pokémon are two of my favorite things, and they recently combined to raise money for charity. Dirk Van Haesbroeck is known for making large, detailed LEGO sculptures, and he was recently commissioned by the video game retail chain Game Mania to create a pair of giant Pikachu models. These two models were then auctioned off to raise money for Bednet, an organization that provides online education for sick children. They ultimately raised €3,500, or around $3,671, for the charity.
Each of the Pikachu sculptures is made up of 25,000 bricks and weighs over 60 kilograms (132 pounds). Van Haesbroeck spent “100 hours of pure building time” creating them, in addition to the time it took to plan their design out. You can browse some images of the sculptures in various stages of being built by clicking through the gallery below.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that LEGO Worlds will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam on February 21st in North America, and three days later on February 24th in Europe. LEGO Worlds is a Minecraft-style game where players can explore a galaxy of bricks and use their imagination to build their own virtual models. Worlds is developed by TT Games, the same studio behind the other LEGO games, but focuses more on building unique creations than the standard story based missions that headlined the other games. Check out a trailer for the game above!
LEGO City Undercover began as a Wii U exclusive back in 2013, and it will soon see new life on multiple platforms. Warner Bros. has announced today that the open world LEGO game (which plays much like a child-friendly take on Grand Theft Auto) is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam sometime in the Spring of 2017.
The Wii U version of the game made heavy use of the GamePad for two-screen functionality, so features have likely been reworked to accommodate the new hardware. I had a blast with this game on Wii U, so if you passed on it before (or if you don’t own a Wii U), you might want to give it a shot next Spring.

One of my most anticipated expansions for LEGO Dimensions is launching in just over a month. Starting November 18th, retailers will be carrying the Sonic Level Pack, which includes Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Speedster, and The Tornado as physical figurines. While we don’t have any footage of the new levels, we now know a little bit more about what characters will appear in the new content. Joining Sonic and Dr. Eggman in the lineup, Knuckles, Tails, Shadow, and fan favorite Big the Cat will enter the fun as well. Here’s hoping we set off on an adventure to find Froggy!
In the latest addition to the LEGO video game franchise, LEGO Dimensions, players are now able to go head to head in four person competitive multiplayer called Battle Arenas. Players can take each other on in 21 different arenas and in the 4 different game types called “Capture the Flag,” “Objective,” “Base Bash,” and finally “Tick, Tag, and Boom.” Each of the Battle Arenas in new expansion packs are still compatible with the original Starter Pack.
Back in June, Warner Bros. revealed that a bunch of new LEGO Dimensions characters would be coming this fall. A Ghostbusters Story Pack, Adventure Time and Mission Impossible Level Packs, Adventure Time and Harry Potter Team Packs, and an A-Team Fun Pack will all arrive next week, while other characters like Sonic the Hedgehog and The Gremlins will arrive in November. Warner Bros. recently revealed that three more packs based on The LEGO Batman Movie and Knight Rider will be arriving in February.
“Coinciding with the release of the upcoming film on which it’s based, The LEGO Batman Movie Story Pack, will provide a deep, story-driven gameplay experience with iconic DC characters in six puzzle-packed levels and new LEGO Gateway bricks that allow players to build the Bat-Computer atop the LEGO Toy Pad. The pack comes with buildable Batgirl and Robin minifigures and the 3-in-1 buildable Batwing which can be rebuilt into The Black Thunder and Bat-Tank…. Batman fans can broaden their LEGO Dimensions gameplay with Excalibur Batman from The LEGO Batman Movie. The Fun Pack comes with a buildable Batman minifigure and a 3-in-1 buildable Bionic Steed which can be rebuilt into the Bat-Raptor and Ultrabat for additional in-game abilities.” — Warner Bros.
The Knight Rider Pack will feature Michael Knight and K.I.T.T. from the original 80s TV show, who can be rebuilt into into the K.I.T.T. Jet and Goliath Armored Semi.
“In the game, players can activate Michael Knight’s dodging and dash abilities to solve puzzles and overpower enemies or use his Wrist Watch to uncover secrets behind x-ray walls and outsmart enemies by hacking into terminals and following trails. Players can also fight crime on four wheels with K.I.T.T., the highly advanced, artificially intelligent robotic vehicle, to boost their gameplay. Michael Knight provides access to a new Knight Rider Adventure World with its own unique Battle Arena. The Knight Rider Fun Pack will release in North America first at GameStop.” — Warner Bros.
The LEGO Batman Movie Story Pack, Excalibur Batman Fun Pack, and Knight Rider Fun Pack will launch on February 10, 2017.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games have announced that LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4 and Years 5-7 are being remastered and put into a single collection. Despite the original games appearing on a plethora of different platforms, however, this collection will only be available on PlayStation 4. The games’ graphics have been enhanced, and the lighting and visual effects improved. The two DLC packs will also be included in the collection, which added ten characters and five spells to use. LEGO Harry Potter Collection launches on October 18th at $50, exclusively for PlayStation 4.
Warner Bros. believes that the game “serves as a perfect gift” to anyone who is interested in seeing the upcoming film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is set in the Harry Potter universe. The original games launched back in 2010 and 2011, so the vague movie tie-in seems to be the reason for remastering the games five years later.
TT Games has released a new trailer for the upcoming Harry Potter team pack for LEGO Dimensions. The trailer shows off some of the locations that will be present in the pack, such as Diagon Alley and various parts of Hogwarts School, all in the iconic LEGO style. The Harry Potter team pack launches on September 27th and comes with two minifigures and two new models.
During Sonic‘s 25th Anniversary celebration last week, a ton of information was revealed about the latest packs for LEGO Dimensions. In November, Warner Bros. will be releasing J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in theaters across the nation. LEGO Dimensions‘ Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them story pack will let you play through the entire film. The pack includes six levels, as well as a Newt Scamander Lego minifigure and Niffler, which can be rebuilt into the Vicious Vulture and Sinister Scorpion. A fun pack based on the movie will include a Tina Goldstein figure and Swooping Evil creature, which can be turned into the Crawling Creeper and Brutal Bloom.
Additionally, the Sonic the Hedgehog level pack will include a complete and playable level based on the legendary series. You can play through various zones like Green Hill, Labyrinth, and Emerald Coast. You also get a 3-in-1 Sonic Speedster and Tornado, which can be turned into the Blue Typhoon and Eggcatcher, respectively. The Gremlins team pack includes figures of Gizmo and Stripe, as well as 3-in-1 R.C. Racer and 3-in-1 Flash n’ Finish.
E.T.’s fun pack includes an E.T. figure and home phone that can be rebuilt into a mobile uplink and super-charged satellite. Adventure Time‘s Land of Ooo fun pack includes a minifigure of Marceline the Vampire Queen and her Lunatic Amp, which can be rebuilt into the Shadow Scorpion and Heavy Metal Monster.

In June, it was confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog would be crossing over into TT Games’ LEGO Dimensions, complete with his own blocky toy. No release date was formally given for his Level Pack at the time, which would also contain toys of the Tornado biplane and his car from Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, but at tonight’s Sonic 25th Anniversary Party, fans were given their first look at a LEGOfied Sonic universe.
SEGA’s iconic Blue Blur will be dashing through the likes of Gotham City, the Land of Ooo, and the TARDIS—as well as familiar locales such as Green Hill Zone and Emerald Coast—in the fall. Check out the trailer above!

It’s an important year for Sonic the Hedgehog. The Blue Blur officially turned 25 a little over a week ago, and while we won’t be seeing a new Sonic title until next year, there’s still plenty in store for fans of the series. This includes the addition of Sonic to the LEGO Dimensions series, in which he will receive his own figure.
Mark Warburton, producer at TT Games, has revealed images of the new figure on his Twitter. Unfortunately, the posts have been removed, but you can still check out the images in the gallery below!

The iconic Star Wars franchise is back with a whole new saga kicked off by The Force Awakens. Episode VII was a hit with critics and a dominant force in the box office, and now it’s getting the LEGO treatment! LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens launches in just a few days on June 28th, and you can preorder it right now by clicking here. To raise hype for the game, Warner Bros. has been releasing character trailers, showing off the film’s memorable cast in LEGO form. The latest character vignette stars Rey, and you can check it out by clicking above!
Though Kylo Ren isn’t lauded as Star Wars’ most imposing villain, I think he is an interesting character. Not only does he have the ability to stop a blaster shot in mid-air, he also managed to keep fighting after tanking a shot from Chewbacca’s mighty Wookie Bowcaster, and all that while being a tantrum-throwing teenager. For those of you who also love Kylo Ren, there now is a new LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer which highlights this character, voiced by the actor Adam Driver himself.

Earlier in the month, Warner Bros. announced their latest lineup of LEGO Dimensions toys, which included Sonic the Hedgehog, Adventure Time, and Harry Potter. While Disney may have cancelled Disney Infinity, Warner Bros. believes that the toys-to-life genre is still very important. WB Games president David Haddad recently spoke with IGN and explained the company’s current strategy.
“We still view [toys to life] as a large and important category for us to participate in. We still view it, even though there are changes to the structure of the industry, as a very large category.” — David Haddad
Haddad further states that WB Games is “staying away from dead-ends and barriers” by allowing the Year Two content to work with the original game in 2015. I’m excited to see what else WB Games has in store for the future!
During Sony’s E3 press conference, a new trailer for LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens was shown. This trailer included all of the usual goofiness you would expect from a LEGO game, parodying some of the movie’s most famous scenes. It was also revealed that a demo for the game is available now. The full game will be launching on June 28th. You can check out the trailer by clicking the video above!
LEGOs are as popular as ever, and one fan has taken that fandom to the next level. YouTube channel ZaziNombies LEGO Creations has created some Overwatch weapons from LEGO bricks, and they look amazing. One YouTuber built Reinhardt’s rocket hammer out of 4,500 LEGO bricks, as well as Tracer’s pulse pistols out of 800 LEGOs. The rocket hammer is around 61 inches long and weighs approximately 15 pounds.
The pulse pistols are made out of some specialty LEGO bricks and use watch batteries to light up certain bricks. These LEGO pistols can also shoot, thanks to the spring-loaded firing mechanism and LEGO blue lasers. You can check out the video with Tracer’s LEGO pulse pistols by clicking here.
Earlier this week, we covered a rumor on the new additions that may be in store for LEGO Dimensions. As it turns out, the rumors were true. Warner Bros. released a new trailer today confirming that characters from Adventure Time, the Ghostbusters reboot, Sonic The Hedgehog, and more will be making an appearance in the toys-to-life game. The trailer itself primarily shows off the new characters, including a delightfully charming shot of Ethan Hunt lowering down his line only to tickle Scooby Doo. Many of the original voice actors, such as Adventure Time‘s Jeremy Shada and John DiMaggio, appear (or sound) to be reprising their roles in-game.
Warner Bros. will be doling out new packs in waves starting on September 27th with a Ghostbusters Story Pack, Adventure Time and Mission Impossible Level Packs, Adventure Time and Harry Potter Team Packs, and an A-Team Fun Pack. There are no confirmed dates for the next wave releases, however they promise to include characters from ThePowerpuff Girls, The Goonies, and even Gremlins. All in all, there are a total of 16 new properties that Lego and Warner Bros. have acquired. With this many franchises, it seems like Warner Bros. could scratch just about anyone’s nostalgia-fueled fan-fiction itch.
As an aside, if you are curious about the song in the trailer, it’s Ok Go’s “Here it Goes Again,” aka the treadmill dance song.

The iconic Star Wars franchise is firmly back in the spotlight thanks to the immense success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The popular film will soon be getting the LEGO treatment, as LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to launch consoles, handhelds, and PC on June 28th. Ahead of its release, Developer TT Games has teamed up with IGN to release nearly 11 minutes of new gameplay footage along with commentary from TT Games Associate Producer Time Wileman.
