Nintendo’s Cancelled, Gritty Reboot of Kid Icarus Had Some Great Story Ideas

Unseen64 recently gave the world an incredible look at a cancelled Kid Icarus Wii game made by Factor 5, the western development team behind Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. They wanted to introduce a darker world where Pit was more of a hardened Earthen warrior and less of a young, naive angel.

This is one of the subjects we discussed on
this week’s episode of Nintendo Week, our Nintendo-themed podcast here at Gamnesia. Check out the discussion video above for our full thoughts on the game, its direction, cancellation, and more.

While it went against Nintendo’s vision for the series and was ultimately cancelled, some of the story concepts Factor 5 wanted to introduce with an older version of Pit and a darker setting could make for awesome stories in future
Kid Icarus titles—with a few tweaks to better sculpt it to the series’ current direction, of course.
