Two New Episodes of Pokémon Generations Have Just Been Released

The Pokémon Company recently kicked off a new YouTube video series called Pokémon Generations, telling stories from across Pokémon‘s six generations. Previous episodes have included stories about Trainer Red and his Pikachu, Detective Looker, Blue’s Elite Four challenge, and Champion Lance’s raid on a Team Rocket hideout. This week we get a double dose of Pokémon goodness, as two new episodes have been released.

Episode 5 is titled “The Legacy,” and it once again follows Detective Looker. The story picks up three years after Looker’s attempt to arrest Giovanni in Viridian City, and Team Rocket has recently taken over the Goldenrod City Radio Tower. With no clues to Giovanni’s whereabouts, Looker turns to an unlikely ally for help: Giovanni’s son.

In Episode 6, The Reawakening, the mysterious Eusine seeks out the location of the Legendary Pokémon Suicune. His journey takes him to the Burned Tower in Ecruteak City, where he recounts the ancient story of Ho-Oh and the Legendary Beasts. You can watch both episodes by clicking below!

Champion Lance Attacks a Team Rocket Hideout in the Latest Pokémon Generations Episode

The Pokémon Company recently kicked off a new YouTube video series called
Pokémon Generations, telling stories from across Pokémon‘s six generations. Previous episodes have included stories about Trainer Red and his Pikachu, Detective Looker, and Blue’s Elite Four challenge. This week’s episode (the best yet, in my opinion) is titled “The Lake of Rage,” and the story is centered on Champion Lance and his powerful Dragonite.

Pokémon Gold & Silver feature a mission that involves infiltrating a Team Rocket hideout near the Lake of Rage. Teaming up with Champion Lance to put a stop to Team Rocket’s evil plans was one of the most memorable moments in the games, and now Pokémon Generations is giving us a look at that story from Lance’s point of view. NWC: The New “Pokémon Generations” Mini-Series is Exactly What Pokémon Should Be

The Pokémon Company recently revealed a new anime called Pokémon Generations, an eighteen-webisode miniseries about the Pokémon stories from the games that the anime didn’t get to tell, and shortly thereafter released the first two episodes—and now the third is available as well.

This was one of the talking points on
this week’s episode of Nintendo Week, our Nintendo-themed podcast here at Gamnesia, and think it’s absolutely incredible. Check out the discussion video above for our full thoughts, or keep reading below for a brief, brief summary.

We all think this is an excellent homage to the stories that don’t get fully explored within the games, and the more mature stylistic take on the
Pokémon world is something the series has desperately needed to reconnect with older fans who see Pokémon in a grittier way than the anime has been portraying it for so many years. In fact, Alex hopes it leads into some kind of “back-to-the-beginning companion game,” and I think they should turn Generations into a full-fledged anime series as a means of expanding and exploring the Pokémon lore without letting it intrude too far on such a game.

Ben points out that it’s a little hard to sink your teeth into, as the episodes are so short. But with fifteen more to go, there’s a ton of promise ahead.

If you like the video, you can
subscribe to Nintendo Week on iTunes, where we release new episodes every Wednesday, or you could check out the full episode. If you don’t like long-form podcasts, you can subscribe to us on YouTube, where our discussion segments are uploaded on Thursdays, and these select snippets from the rest of the podcast—which we call NWC—are uploaded throughout the week. If you like what you hear, we’d love it if you leave us a review on iTunes, where you can find episodes covering tons of other subjects, or send us your feedback! We’d love to know what you think of the show, and how you think we can improve it.
