The Pokémon Sun and Moon Anime Will Debut on May 12th on Disney XD

Pokémon the Series: Sun and Moon will make its U.S. debut on Disney XD on May 12th. The show, based off of thePokémon Sun and Moon games, will feature Ash Ketchum as usual and his journey with Pikachu and other new friends through the Alola region. The English series’ first two episodes will air Friday, May 12th, at 9:00 PM, and the third episode will come less than 24 hours later, on Saturday, May 13th, at what will become the show’s regular 9:00 AM slot.

Dedicated fans will know that this will not be the first time we have seen Ash and company in Alolan region; the first two episodes were aired as a preview to this first season last December, following the initial anime release in Japan a few weeks prior.

There are a lot of changes to either anticipate or be concerned about in this new series.
Sun and Moon features a change in the art style and a new, more bombastic and cartoonish look to the Pokémon world that we have never seen before. Ash also attends a school in the Alola region instead of exploring the region at first, further giving credence that Ash is regressing in age. Even so, there are a lot of returning staples to be excited about in the series as well, including Pikachu, Team Rocket’s Jesse, James, and Meowth, and some generally comedic adventures for all ages.

Team Rocket Finally Beat Ash in a Pokémon Battle After 20 Long Years

Time and time again, Team Rocket engages in some hilarious plot to capture Ash’s Pikachu. Time and time again, they fail, resulting in one of the longest running gags throughout the Pokémon TV series. Despite these repeated failures, Jessie, James, and Meowth always come back each week as determined to snatch Pikachu as ever. Now, after years of failure, they finally got their chance.

The newest episode of Pokémon the Series: Sun and Moon just released a few days ago and in it, we see something I never thought would happen. Team Rocket managed to beat Ash in a Pokémon battle without cheating! It all started as a Mareanie fell in love with James after poisoning him. As James tries to run away from it, with Jessie, Meowth, and Wobbuffet are sitting nearby watching this spectacle, Ash and his team happen to stumble upon them. Never being one to pass up a chance to grab Pikachu, Team Rocket immediately jumps into battle.

Jessie starts by sending out Mimikyu, Meowth, and Wobbuffet, though the latter two quickly get taken out by a Thunderbolt. Meanwhile, Mareanie decides it wants to fight for James to show its affection, so it goes after Ash’s Rowlet. After a good amount of fighting, the combined efforts of Mareanie and Mimikyu are able to take down Rowlet and Pikachu, much to the joy and surprise of Team Rocket.

Of course, this would be the perfect opportunity to snag Pikachu, but right as they try to spring into action, Bewear rises from the sea and hauls Team Rocket off to a secret cave. After feasting on a heap of food provided by Bewear, Team Rocket decides to make this cave their secret base.

Though Pikachu remains ever elusive, at least Team Rocket got something good out of the encounter!
