Today Electronic Arts hosted their annual EA Play Conference, and they revealed a metric ton of Star Wars Battlefront II information, some new and some not. According to EA, they have taken in the “constructive criticism” from fans and are implementing a complete solo campaign into the game. Battlefront II supposedly has three times the content than the first, including more heroes, vehicles, planets, and progression across different game modes and Star Wars eras.

The previously announced class system was also elaborated on. The game, and specifically multiplayer, will feature different classes with special characters and vehicles available after the player has collected enough “Battle Points” during the match. This is strikingly like the original two Battlefront titles, something fans like myself will be grateful for. It was also announced, to a stunned audience, that all the DLC multiplayer maps, heroes, vehicles, and weapons will be free. This is similar to Titanfall 2, another EA title that doesn’t charge for additional content either.

The first wave of content will feature additions from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, including Finn and Captain Phasma as heroes. The future waves of themed content will, again, also be free, although what the themes will focus on has not been announced. Players who preorder the game will also get access to the game’s beta, with more details being revealed in the fall. And finally, following the announcements, a live gameplay session was broadcast, featuring one of the game’s new gamemodes and maps.

The live gameplay was hosted by a few YouTube personalities and included our first look at a new three phase gamemode. In this 20v20 match, we saw the different classes being used, like Specialist, Assault, Heavy, and Officer classes. Boba Fett, Jyn Erso, and Darth Maul also made appearances, all with new abilities. A spectator mode was seen being used, although it wasn’t mentioned. It should be noted this is a pre-alpha build, so anything could change between now and the November 17, 2017 release date.

Keep your eyes peeled for more Star Wars Battlefront II information to follow, and check out the new gameplay trailer above!
