Since 2015, the Strong Museum’s World Video Game Hall of Fame has been recognizing games that have contributed to the development of the gaming industry as we know it. This contribution could either be due to a game’s popularity or to having a profound influence on the industry or popular culture. The World Video Game Hall of Fame has just released a list of 12 finalists up for inclusion in the “Class of 2018.”
The list of nominees is as follows:
- Call of Duty
- Dance Dance Revolution
- Final Fantasy VII
- John Madden Football
- King’s Quest
- Ms. Pac-Man
- Tomb Raider
If you want to help your favorite game make the cut, you can! Once a day from now until April 4th, you can head over to the World Video Game Hall of Fame page and vote for your favorite game. The top three games will form a ballot which will then be competing with 27 other ballots which will be voted on by experts on video game history and their role in society. The inductees will be announced on May 3rd at 10:30 AM Eastern.
If you don’t see your favorite game on the list, don’t fret.
Nominations for the Class of 2019 are currently open!
