President of Rockstar North Leslie Benzies has left the company after nearly two decades. According to Kotaku, Benzies had been on a paid hiatus after the release of
Grand Theft Auto V, but once he came back he was officially done. Benzies was behind many of the popular GTA releases, as well as the first Manhunt game and Red Dead Redemption. Rockstar North will continue, but Benzies will sadly not be a part of it.

Rockstar released this statement to Kotaku about Benzies’ resignation:

“We can confirm that Leslie Benzies went on sabbatical on September 1, 2014 and has decided not to return to work for the company. We are very grateful for Leslie‚Äôs contributions to Rockstar over the last 15 years as we worked together to make some amazing games.

“Leslie helped us build an incredible team that will continue to create great experiences for our fans. Leslie will always be a friend to the company and of course we are going to miss him but we wish him the absolute best for the future.”

I have been playing video games since about the age of three and they have stayed my greatest passion. I began writing in high school through poetry and became interested in writing as a career going into college.
