The Mayor of Rio Wants to Bring Pokémon GO to Brazil in Time for the Olympic Games

Pokémon GO is quickly making its way across the world, with the newest locations being Germany and the UK. However, the game is yet to reach South America, and Rio de Janerio’s mayor has asked Niantic if they will release it in Brazil for the start of the Olympic Games. Eduardo Paes wrote on Facebook asking Nintendo to “come on down” to the Olympic Games and attached several images of Pokémon in various Rio de Janerio locations. Humorously, one of the pictures is of the Games’ mascots and is captioned with “#EssesNãoSãoPokémons,” which means “these are not Pokémon.”

The Games start on August 5th, which is just three weeks away, so hopefully Niantic will be able to get the game to Brazil in time. What do you think about Eduardo Paes’ request? Let us know in the comments!
