The Nintendo Switch has already become a massive success just ten months into its life cycle. It seems the gaming giant has resonated with consumers much better than they ever did with the Wii U, selling over 4.8 million units in the United States alone. At this rate, the Nintendo Switch will likely outpace its predecessor in its second year. Sales for the system are actually so high that it’s become the fastest selling console ever in the US.

These sales numbers are likely due to the release of major titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey. Besides the big titles, the console also brings the handheld and home console audience together, broadening the system’s appeal beyond what’s normal.

Can the Nintendo Switch keep up the sales momentum throughout 2018? Will it outsell other big systems like the Nintendo DS and PlayStation 2? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Our Verdict

Writing is half of my life. Video games make up the other half. I decided to put these two hobbies together and join Gamnesia back in 2015. I spend most of my time working at a retail store and paying off my student debt. When I'm not getting stressed about the thousands of dollars I owe my loan providers, I play tons of video games (which just puts me into more debt). I'm also currently writing a novel in what little spare time I have. It's a story I've been wanting to write for a while, but I don't want to talk about it until I have most of it completed. Any Gamnesia-related inquiries may be sent to [email protected] Feel free to follow my personal Twitter if you want (@Pindlo). I mostly just retweet things.
