Nintendo’s upcoming console, hitherto known as the NX, was revealed today as the Nintendo Switch, a hybrid console capable of being played with a TV or with a standalone handheld screen. The company has also revealed that the console is to have support for Nintendo’s popular Amiibo figurines, which give in-game benefits when used in conjunction with Nintendo consoles.

A Nintendo representative said that “if a Nintendo Switch game supports Amiibo, then the Nintendo Switch home gaming system will as well.” He also clarified that the Switch Dock seen in the reveal trailer will provide an output to the connected television set, as well as charging the handheld screen. However, he did not specify whether Amiibo would have to be placed in contact with the handheld screen or the Switch Dock in order to be used.

How do you think the Switch could be used with Amiibo? Let us know what you think below!
