In a livestream held today by the Sonic social team, some sad news awaited PC fans regarding the launch of Sonic Mania. August 15th will still mark the long-awaited release of the throwback Sonic title on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch as previously planned. However, due to some technical issues in the PC version, the launch for that particular iteration of the game has been delayed by two weeks’ time to August 29th.

Those who preordered the Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition on PC will still receive the package with a working code once it ships on Tuesday, although the code—while still redeemable—will be time-locked. Both Collector’s Edition owners and those who preorder the PC version of the game before August 15th will receive Sonic the Hedgehog 1 on Steam for free, either for themselves or a friend if they already own it.

This morning’s livestream also hosted an unboxing of the Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition and gave fans another look at Studiopolis Zone Act 2.

Was PC your platform of choice for Sonic Mania? How does the delay affect you? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
