Amazing music and exciting video games have gone hand-in-hand since the early days of the industry. Many of the most memorable video game tunes came from classic games like Super Mario Bros., Castlevania, Mega Man, and many others. Now, Japanese music label Brave Wave is beginning a new “Generation Series.” For this new series, the label will take original game soundtracks and remaster them under the guidance and supervision of the of the original sound teams and composers. Street Fighter II has the honor of being the first remastered work to be released in the Generation Series.
Here is some information about the release straight from Brave Wave’s website:
The soundtrack release will include new remasters of both CPS-1 and CPS-2 versions of the arcade game, extracted directly from the arcade boards and approved by original composer Yoko Shimomura.
Fans of physical media will be treated with a double album that features liner notes by Yoko Shimomura and Polygon.com writer Matt Leone. Additionally, and for the first time in the series history, we will present with Capcom a limited edition vinyl release, carefully and especially remastered in translucent colored vinyl, with art prints sourced from the Capcom archive.
