A film adaptation of Naughty Dog’s popular Uncharted franchise has been in the works for years now, but the wait could be longer than expected. The film was originally scheduled to release on June 10th, 2016, but it was delayed by more than a year to June 30th, 2017. A few months ago we heard that it was stuck in the pre-production stage, and it now looks like that new release date won’t be met either.

According to Comingsoon.net, Sony has removed the Uncharted movie from its release schedule. The film adaptation currently has no planned release date. However, it doesn’t appear to be cancelled, as script writer Joe Carnahan was still praising the script for the upcoming movie on Twitter as recently as yesterday. Hopefully the extra time is used to ensure that it’s a quality film that fans of the games can be excited about.
