Well, there’s a headline I never thought I’d have to type. Forest of Illusion, a website dedicated to preserving Nintendo history, recently tweeted out a bizarre and amusing discovery. It seems that the United States Environmental Protection Agency poached music from Yoshi’s Island DS. Why? To use it in a flash game about recycling, of course!
Recycle City Challenge is a simple point and click game meant to teach children about recycling, and whoever developed the game apparently took that lesson to heart by recycling Nintendo’s music. As you click around Recycle City and earn coins by answering questions about energy conservation, you’ll be serenaded by the sounds of the Underground Theme from Yoshi’s Island DS.
Perhaps this is Yoshi’s way of making up for all that tax evasion? You can play the game for yourself by clicking here.
Fun fact: The United States government stole the underground theme in Yoshi's Island DS for the Enviornmental Protection Agency's flash game about recycling. The song can be heard right after pressing the start button. pic.twitter.com/TpMI6l8NSh
