Yesterday, Eurogamer released a report claiming that Nintendo NX will be a handheld-console hybrid with detachable controllers. We’ve heard similar rumors in the past, but never from such a reliable source, and never stated with the certainty of Eurogamer’s report. While Nintendo has repeatedly declined to comment on the report, other publications have corroborated it, including The Wall Street Journal.
In addition to backing up Eurogamer’s claims (citing an unnamed “person familiar with the matter” as their source), The Wall Street Journal reports that NX will play Nintendo’s mobile games, such as
Miitomo. Given that NX reportedly runs on the mobile-oriented Nvidia Tegra X1, this is entirely plausible. Nintendo, as usual, declined to comment when pressed by The Wall Street Journal.
