Triple-A games are expensive, something that’s been made very clear to us by Grand Theft Auto V, which had a shocking budget speculated to be around $266 million. While CD Projekt RED’s flagship title The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt hasn’t quite reached Rockstar’s other-worldly numbers, it came quite close to breaking the $100 million barrier, with a budget of $81 million.

However, the studio has defended the decision to invest so much money into the game, pointing to the fact that in the first six weeks after launching the game, The Witcher 3 had brought in $63 million, courtesy of over six million sold copies.
