This week’s issue of Famitsu reveals that there is a new entry of the Valkyria Chronicles series in the works: Valkyria: Azure Revolution. In addition, the original Valkyria Chronicles will also get a remaster. Both these games are planned for the PlayStation 4, and the remaster of Valkyria Chronicles is slated for release on February 10, 2016 in Japan. It will have high-resolution graphics, as well as trophies and DLC content. A demo of Valkyria: Azure Revolution will also be included, and SEGA will look at player feedback on it.
We also have some information regarding the story of Valkyria: Azure Revolution, which is centered around the Rus Empire growing more powerful soon after discovering the azure mineral Ragnite. This growth smothers Jutland, a small country, which becomes economically blocked by the Rus Empire, but it does not want to bow under a colonial rule, so its warriors attack an imperial army base.
What’s interesting to see is that this mention the discovery of Ragnite. In the first game, this was already a known material and was implemented for a variety of military uses. Take the Ragnaid for example, a Ragnite-based tool that soldiers could use to heal each other.
Could this mean that Valkyria: Azure Revolution is a prequel? Let us know what you think in the comments below! And while you’re down there, you can also take a look at a couple of scans!
