A passionate artist has created a series of Pokémon figurines that show us what Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, the legendary birds from Pokémon Red and Blue, would look like as Gundams.

Gundams are the large anthropomorphic robots from
Mobile Suit Gundam, an extremely popular anime from the late 1970s. Mobile Suit Gundam is one of the most iconic anime series in history, and over the past forty years, it has spawned several movies, television shows, and video games. The Gundam series’ greatest claim to fame, however, is its merchandise; Gundam figurines are some of the best-selling toys in all of Japan.

Khrisamisu, the artist that created these Pokémon-themed Gundams, has no plans to sell the figurines publicly. He makes these custom toys for fun, by building his own robots out of the recycled bodies and weapons of regular Gundam figures, adding in new coats of paint and a few extra pieces. A photo gallery with images of this most recent project is available below.

What do you guys think? Have any of you owned Gundam toys, and have you ever tried to build your own? Do these figurines look like the legendary birds they’re based on? Let us know in the comments below!
