Rainfall Films is a talented team with a history of creating short films and trailers based off of popular franchises. You may remember them from IGN’s Legend of Zelda movie April Fools’ Day joke or the impressive Wonder Woman viral video from 2013. By popular demand, as voted last summer, their latest project is a short film about the Metroid franchise and bounty hunter Samus Aran.

Rather than creating an action-packed, modern film, director Sam Balcomb drew from the science fiction classics of the 1960s and 1970s for inspiration, just as
Metroid‘s creators did. This gripping fan film is shot in the style of classics like 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien, and Solaris, and it focuses on themes of exploration and isolation. Click above to watch this impressive take on the Metroid universe.
