Nintendo has just released a new trailer for the newest Pokémon anime series, Pokémon XY & Z. This is one of the first looks we’ve gotten of the series since its announcement.

Pokémon XY & Z is the newest series in the long-running Pokémon anime. It will air on October 29th with a one-hour special of the show. The new series will star the famous Ash Ketchum and focus on the evolution of the legendary Pokémon Zygarde through its different forms. You can check out the trailer above!

The trailer might make little sense if you don’t speak Japanese. Essentially, it just introduces the new series and explains some of the key aspects, which have also been covered in a statement from The Pokémon Company.

Most of the trailer and the information released about the show is based around Zygarde, a green legendary Dragon Pokémon first introduced in Pokémon X and Y. While the Zygarde that appeared in the game itself had a single form, known as its “50% Forme”, the Zygarde in the anime will actually slowly evolve through different stages. These forms are known as “Zygarde Cell”, “Zygarde Core”, “Zygarde 10% Forme”, “Zygarde 50% Forme”, and “Zygarde Complete Forme”. For reasons yet to be explained, Zygarde is split into thousands of tiny, unthinking creatures known as Zygarde Cells. When these unite, they turn into Zygarde Cores, which are slightly more powerful and can think for themselves. These unite to create the 10% Forme, a fast, dog-like Pokémon. Next comes the 50% Forme, an incredibly powerful legendary Pokémon which appeared in Pokémon X and Y and was the only known form of the creature until recently. The last is the Zygarde Complete Forme, created by uniting all the separate Zygarde Cells, which is said to be even stronger than Xerneas and Yveltal.

The trailer also shows “Ash Greninja”, a redesigned version of Greninja which has become much more powerful after its bond with Ash was raised to the limit. This phenomenon is very rare, as the description states that it has only happened one other time in the Kalos Region, several hundred years ago. In addition to this, the trailer stars a few secondary characters from Pokémon X and Y, as well as several Team Flare Grunts.

What do you guys think of the new trailer and all the new information on Zygarde? Personally, I think it’s awesome, and I’m really looking forward to watching Zygarde’s different forms progress throughout the show. I only hope that they are included in the video games in some way at some point in the future.
