As you’re probably aware, tragedy struck back in May when a three-year-old boy climbed into a gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. When a gorilla named Harambe grabbed and dragged the boy, a zoo worker shot and killed him. Talk of the controversial occurrence (along with plenty of memes) has been all over social media for months now, including various (mostly joking) attempts to honor the late, great gorilla.
The latest Harambe tribute is a fan-made petition asking Nintendo (they might want to re-focus their efforts towards The Pokémon Company instead) to immortalize Harambe as a Pokémon. The petition just went up today, but it already has (as of 1:00 PM Central) around 15,000 signatures, which is its target. To illustrate what Harambe and a pre-evolved form called “Hambo” could look like, images of Monkezuma and Simayan from the fan-made Pokémon game Pokémon Sage were used. If you’re interested in signing the petition, you can do so by clicking here.
